Post-Game Talk: The summer of our discontent

Haha, is he? Have him GM Edmonton and see how many players he can get to come. Comparing the cities, weather and tax benefits we are not on a level playing field. Throw in the fact our goalie's family is getting death threats from the trailer park trash fans where do you think players will want to go?
You do know that Canadian players or big market players get more sponsorship deals that more than cover differences in taxes, that and we are a much lower cost of living then Florida…. Their property taxes are insane too.

Gregor gargling Skinners balls something hard.

I can’t stand that f***ing goof anymore. Just drop it already. Admit you’re wrong.

Saw a tweet from him saying we need a “different” goalie, which got wrongly interpreted by a few of my friends to mean “wow he actually wants to move on from Skinner now!” I told them that I’m certain he’s going to drone on about how a 1B is needed, and here we are.

The weather and living under a microscope definitely enters into things. Also the travel both during the season and off season.

Gotta get a 1a cause Skiner is a 2b lol

Zito wouldn't have signed the Campbell and Nurse contracts. I'm confident of that much.

I hate to admit it but Florida is going to get better. Brady Tkachuk will likely be joining them soon. Florida has that 2010s Golden State vibe going on right now where players just want to join force with them

A NYR fan here; I come in peace.

I was kind of hoping for you guys to win the Cup; I'm sick of the Panthers LOL The Panthers were the better team; it was one of the most lopsided 6 game series in recent memory. The Oilers took too many dumb penalties in the series.

Now, obviously, the work begins to get back to where you've been the last couple years. It won't be easy.
Priority no. 1, obviously, find a no. 1 goalie. You never got a save when you needed it, outside of Game 4, which is now an afterthought. No pending UFAs are much of an upgrade over Skinner/Pickard, so it's got to be a trade.

Signing McDavid is likely (I've read his wife is building quite a business portfolio in Edmonton, so he's unlikely to leave), the only question is for how long does he want; short deal or does he go for the max 8 years.

Finding a winger who can play with Draisaitl. Losing Hyman was a bigger factor than some thought/hoped. Cap wise, losing Broberg/Holloway was necessary (but you can debate what Bowman did with the cap space it created), but on the ice, I think it came back to bite the Oilers.

Re Broberg and Holloway - we had no cap space. That’s why they got offer sheeted. Our idiot President played GM for a day and signed 3 over the hill vets for 10m July 1st leaving us with nothing left for those 2. Worse he did this with the full knowledge that there was a good chance they were getting offer sheeted and our former GM Holland let their status wither all year. So no it was not at all necessary to lose either player.

Is there a stat for Skinner against breakaways? Aren't goalies supposed to stop like 60% of those? Felt like every chance the Panthers got went in except for when Reinhart missed the net.

Anybody have any idea what the penalty for this is going to be when the league decides we’re guilty.
It’s going to be hefty probably a surrender of a first round pick possibly a second as well. They will make an example and close the loophole or at least appear to close it. The Oilers will be the only team punished. Side note reports will surface of PEDs on the Panthers no names will be released and it will disappear as fast as it came up.
