Post-Game Talk: The summer of our discontent

I think both might be asked to waive this summer, and if they do not might be told that if not then will be bought out. They are desperate for cap space.
Let’s hope they wave
I’m not a fan of buyouts
I’m also not a fan giving lesser players no move clauses they should never of been given
If that was the what it took to get them to sign here Oilers should of said we will find others

'Once Bouchard signs for 10+ he becomes untradable unless he puts up 60 to 80 pts ever year of the contract
Folks here said he had a bad year. 67 points,+14, 4th in dman scoring. 11% of possessions are turnovers (6th best in the league), Oilers best player in the playoffs. 2nd all time in playoff points per game (behind bobby orr). Oh yeah, he’s 25

He has got to be one of the best offensive defenseman, short of Makar. McDavid can totally tee that guy up. To me, that is untradable. Perhaps I'm just living in Fantasyland.
He’s better than Makar. Makar hasn’t done what Bouchard has in the playoffs or put up the same metrics in the regular season. Makar skates better…that’s about it

Pods scored a garbage time goal I'm not even counting. They aren't NHL topsix players. Its debatable at this point if they are even NHL players
It counts. Your constant disparaging of this player all season long notwithstanding, he is an NHL player. He’s making $1 million, is young, plays with pace and hits. He’s exactly the sort of player this club needs to fill out the roster. Granted, not well suited to a top six role.
They're playing with Leon and Connor ffs.
No shots, minus four Leon? Podkolzin had a better game than that last night.

Arvidsson is for sure being bought out. Henrique I am not sure about. C depth is still important to have, even if he is overpaid for a 4C. J Skinner is gone. Arvidsson will be bought out. I wouldn't be shocked if Perry takes a bigger one year deal from someone too, he's earned a 1 year deal that's more than what he was paid this year. Brown will likely get a higher offer elsewhere than I would give. There will be some big changes. Podkolzin will be back, Hyman and Nuge obviously. Hopefully Kane. Savoie will get a shot to earn a spot, same with Sam O'Reilly. We're stuck with Janmark. So really, we need a starting goalie, depth RD, a 3rd line C and probably at least one 3rd line W, and a top six scoring winger.

Pod may have been our best player last night.

Get a goalie.

The issue should have been addressed in 2023 when it was clear Jack Campbell wasn't the guy.

Really, the issue should have been addressed properly in 2022 when Mike Smith retired.

Staking the prime years of McDavid and Draisaitl on a middling goalie with 50 good games to his name who had never been past the first round was probably the worst single decision made by any team in the Cap era.

All I can really say is thank you Oilers and congrats to Florida. The Panthers were clearly the better team in all facets of the game.

After the emotions of the loss wear off a bit there will have to be some cold, ruthless evaluations and hard questions asked in the Oilers organization.

They're close, but the gap between them and the cup champs cannot be ignored.

What happened to RNH? He was playing some of the best hockey I've ever seen him play vs Dallas, then Hyman went down, and *poof* RNH vanished. Five goose eggs in the final. Matches the five he put up last year.

You can throw rocks at the big two all day long, but when one of the key supporting cast members also disappears, it's an insurmountable hill to climb.

Nuge is very clearly hurt. He couldn’t even take part in morning skates and practices.

RNH had a few hot games against the softest team we played all run.

The outlier is the Dallas series. The rest of the run is the player he usually is.

In the very least we should have been trying a competitive 1A/1B type things.

Like literally the penguins didn't even gift the goalie they drafted third overall the bs we entitled Skinner to.

Anyone know when year enders are? Tomorrow?

It's weird when comparing this loss to last years. A day after last year's loss, was still pissed off.
This year? It's like I sensed this was inevitable with Hyman injury, consistent no shows by the teams, shitty goaltending...it's like writing was already on the wall.

FLA was just plain better. They didn't even need Buttman reffing with how poorly the Oilers played

It couldn't be ignored last year, either, yet somehow Skinner was the guy again... And some how he got worse.

Good luck with that. These guys will think they're so close even though this team has massive gaps

It's difficult for me to reconcile how easily the Oilers walked through the West only to be absolutely dummied by the Panthers.

I actually think Florida really just is that much better than the rest of the NHL right now.

I guess the karma for winning the McDavid lottery against the odds is the team peaking just as a Florida builds a f*cking dynasty with the guy who should have been our GM. This is what it must have been like for the Flames in the '80s.
