Post-Game Talk: The summer of our discontent

Yeah we were, but like if you don't think the Oilers turned over pucks and had chances that were stopped by a real goalie, I've got a few things to sell you.
I saw the Panthers commit some rather uncharacteristic turnovers in the first period of this game.

The Oilers replied with unscreened clappers from the point that you or I could stop.

Then late in the first Bouchard turns it over at the opposing blueline and the Panthers immediately race back the other way. Tkachuk walks right into the slot uncontested and rips one past a screened Skinner.

Yup exaclty. You think Knob can't win if he's coaching the Florida's side? Maurice is his usual loser self if he coaches Edmonton.

For all the mcdavid bashing his linemates were 40 year old Corey Perry and Connor brown.

Not rantenen and landerskog. Not Reinhart and verheaghe.

We basically have waiver wire fodder in our top 6.
Talent disparity is not the reason one beat the other by four goals in two games, and dominated every game with the exception of game 1. Knob was tactically outclassed and either refused to make proper adjustments or was unable to come with a creative way to beat the forecheck. He’s not the reason we lost but part of the reason.

Guess you're just going to have to take it up with management then, eh.

Also lol Blackwood. Melted down at the worst possible time for the Avs.

As opposed to the ideal times when Skinner continually melted down for us, like tonight. And the last game he started. And the game before that. And game 1. And game 1 against Dallas. And game 3 against Vegas. And game 1 against LA...

Man wait until you hear how cult hero Mike smith's game 1s went. ;)

14-5 the HDSC in this game for the Panthers. But yes, "melted down".

Which he probably should have saved. We saw Bob do the same thing multiple times this game.

They have to upgrade on net but if you think a goalie moves the needle in this series you didn’t watch the series. Especially the last two games.

I can confidently say that Verheaghe made more good plays 5v5 in this series than all our forwards combined outside of McDrai.

Just like last years loss, there is a massive difference in the winger quality between these teams. And Hyman doesn't come close to closing that gap if he was in.

There were no top 6 forwards on our team that could consistently make offensive plays with their heads up 5v5 outside of McDrai. Tiny little spurts from some guys here and there, Nuge appeared for like 5 minutes total in the entire series at 5v5. Not much at all consistent.

But it’s still the goalies fault right! Regardless which tender was in the team played fine for three rounds but the TEAM played one good game in the final. Two OT goals by 29 was all the kept us from a sweep We used to be a one line team, became a real good team two line teambut got beat by a three line team We dont have a Lundell, Marchand or Listarienen
Skinner caused the first goal in multiple games of this series including tonight. In elimination game his turnover blunder playing the puck horriblly led immediately to punishment and the first GA.

To prove that was no anomaly Skinner missplayed the puck 4 more times in the game. 5X his touches went to opponents. Was so bad even Craig Simpson was calling him out on it. Then the Skinner assist on the third goal just to blow the game wide. What a big performance from shitcan. He was critical for Florida on their first 2/3 goals to claim the game.

McDrai didn’t do much either even when together.

The slot shots were 8-1 in favour of the Panthers in the first period. The Oilers were utterly terrible in their own zone.

But I guess just so we're counting, all three goals were bad tonight on Skinner?

What goalie that is a proven solid starting goalie is even likely to be available this off-season?

You think tending makes a difference in this series? We were outclassed in every respect. 5 on 5 special teams everywhere.

You don't think our guys being a combined .859 and their guy being being .918 impacted the series?

If we gave up 20 shots, that's 3 GA for us. For us to get 3 goals that's 37 shots. Lol.

In order for the game to be tied we need to nearly double them up in shots.

You don't think that has an effect?!

Zito built an incredible front office including the best analytics guy in the business, Sunny Mehta. He built a team off of cheap trades and waiver pick ups
Yup totally forgot about that sunny Mehta. Basically eveything a guy like Kyle dubas wanted to be perceived as. Actually an analytics guru. That's the kind of guy you take a swing at as a gm or agm.

I guess finally last hear Jeff Jackson brought someone here? Probably the son of some agent friend who thinks he's smart knowing this organization.

Why did the Panthers have far more HDSC and a better xGF despite having less shots?

Look at the scoring chances for and against. We got absolutely buried in every respect. Our shots were a whole lot of garbage perimeter BS and theirs were consistently dangerous slot shots or breakaways.

He did but they acknowledged they had a goaltending problem and tried to fix it. I mean it would been dumb to keep doing the same thing over and ov.. Oh never mind

Thank you kind sir. Edmonton has a strong base and many people and businesses support the team.

Actually doubled our ST from 2 to 4 during the Copper Jackets plea for more seasons ticket holders. One of the Copper Jackets knew me well and hunted me down lol.

I struggled with the decision but decided this spring after continually seeing Bettman just spew lie after lie about how LTIR is fine, reffing is fine, no state tax is fine, competitive balance is fine, parity is fine (considering game management why would it not be?) and how the game is just being played that I cant in good conscious support the business model any longer once my contract is up.

I will enjoy being Tier 2 and watching from my basement with a nice ice cold $4 beer in hand, bar fridge a few steps away and Mrs5 home cooking but I will miss the $25 Bobby Nicks puke burger. (not!)
I did not renew this spring either. Some of the reasons are similar but I can't handle how this team mismanages the cap every year and the games where there is no effort. Katz made too much money off of me for too long and only wants to make more without adding any value.
