Post-Game Talk: The summer of our discontent

Guys we lost this on coaching, clear and simple. We were hemmed 80 percent of the time whne we shoved it up the boards. You could see the way the Panthers dealt with the exact same thing, they always had a guy curling around that winger who they would sneak the pass to. We never did. Through six games you'd think the messiah, Knoblauch would have figured it out. I mean Jesus it wasn't really that hard to see. Also he should have played Skinner this whole series. we were looking for goals yet we waited for three games. Not to mention goalie Skinner how is he not pulled after the third at least. That third goal was f***ing awful. He should have had all three tonight in a do or die game. f*** that mother f***er. I f***ing hate him. Bummer you had to play for your hometown team, but seriously, take the money you made and get the f*** out of here you loser. I hope you never come back, you're not welcome in your home town because you suck so bad. Kiss my ass if I'm being too harsh.

I wish you were right but I cant see it. They need to have a 2/3 majority to change revenue sharing if I recall. The Canadian teams in large part subsidize the no state tax sunbelt teams that keep winning cups yet we have less than 1/3 of the vote. So it will never happen.
Probably right. I think the only thing that would make it change is a drop in Canadian revenue.

Still had to get them and think they’d fit. And fit he did behind their wildest dreams I suspect.

Yeah, again I’m not willing to give too much credit to a no state tax sunbelt team. Kudos to them for building a team on easy mode, I guess. Like Vegas and Tampa before them (at least Tampa has real fans though).

As I said months ago around TDL, if the leaders on the team are treating the rest like a bromance, then they don’t deserve to win a f***ing thing.
I doubt that extends to Skinner, to be honest. 'Friends are friends' but McDavid knows better than anyone the legacy-building opportunities that his goalies have cost him.

Connor Brown has speed and I thought he looked solid up until his head injury.

Kapanen and Podkolzin brought some good physical play (as well as youth and speed). Wouldn’t mind these guys in bottom line/depth role.
Connor Brown had 2pts in the last 15 playoff games while getting considerable topline looks.

Its always some injury with him. Even when he's healthy he never does anything for more than two weeks in a row and our pk is awful with him. We can't even give him that grace anymore that he might be good on the pk. he brings nothing to this club. He's a coat rider. Please no more Stewed Skinner and Connor Brown.

surely McDavid communicates that an upgrade in goal is paramount during his negotiations... surely...
Milquetoast Connor mcdavid? Who when asked is it okay if we sign Brandon Manning who broke your collar bone wants to be a team player and says... yes?

Connor mcdavid who gets mad when Stuart skinner gets his obligatory shutout Vs Dallas and says he hopes it shuts up his critics?

I don't know. Bowman was interviewed by Lebrun before the playoffs, and he said that his decision not to change the goalies was based on talking to the players. They wanted to come back with Stu.

We've heard this before- Holland asked them about upgrading Ceci last year, and they said that unless there was a clear upgrade, they'd rather go with what they had. Maybe the playoffs changes things, but they're clearly a tight group.

We were “stuck” overpaying for these guys because no one is coming/staying unless it’s an overpay
Zito literally has the pick of the litter when it comes to signings and trades…that matters
Marchand only waive the NMC to go to Florida..that’s it
He wasn’t gonna waive it to come here
We were stuck overpaying for them because Ken Holland was bad at his job. He ate up a Darnell Nurse career year in a dogshit division and assumed it would be the norm going forward. He, or whoever scouted Jack Campbell ignored the thousands of red flags he had in Toronto and signed him to be our franchise goalie.

Just remember, according to Ken Holland you can't squeeze GMs!

Have to give you a throw out as a first tier fan. Great respect to you sir for putting your money on the table each and every year for this franchise. Ownership didn't deserve this loyalty through an epic extended period of incompetence. I am glad that you (and we) have been gifted to watch McDavid and Draisaitl play at super human levels. Terrible shame this organization slipped on a banana far too many times in surrounding them with talent.

The Edmonton fanbase is different. And it's on the backs of peeps like you that have invested big bucks (need to be among the league's top ticket prices befitting monopolistic conditions) year after year.

Thank you kind sir. Edmonton has a strong base and many people and businesses support the team.

Actually doubled our ST from 2 to 4 during the Copper Jackets plea for more seasons ticket holders. One of the Copper Jackets knew me well and hunted me down lol.

I struggled with the decision but decided this spring after continually seeing Bettman just spew lie after lie about how LTIR is fine, reffing is fine, no state tax is fine, competitive balance is fine, parity is fine (considering game management why would it not be?) and how the game is just being played that I cant in good conscious support the business model any longer once my contract is up.

I will enjoy being Tier 2 and watching from my basement with a nice ice cold $4 beer in hand, bar fridge a few steps away and Mrs5 home cooking but I will miss the $25 Bobby Nicks puke burger. (not!)

Nobody ever mentions that to Bettman when he says the same excuse. (A day later Marchand completely contradicts him and says there is a huge advantage). The more money on the table, the larger the no state tax teams gain advantage.
Not sure on the math but could you imagine Nurse with a 7.25 cap hit Draisaitl with a 11million cap hit next year…. The Oilers could add some good pieces.

I'm tired of the excuses. They're just a better run team than we are and they wanted it more. People laughed at them when they traded for Seth Jones and he was arguably their best D-man in the playoffs.

Boy if only we didn't get all hot and heavy over Holland while looking at Zito...

The first major mistake was hiring Bob Nicholson, then Chiarelli, then Dustin Schwartz, and lastly, Ken Holland. It will take more than one season to recover from their succession of mistakes.

that one

Fine Arvidsson can be our 13th forward and Henrique can retire
Or maybe Arvidsson asks for a trade after being healthy scratched
One can hope…right

I think both might be asked to waive this summer, and if they do not might be told that if not then will be bought out. They are desperate for cap space.

What’s your point here? Are you saying it isn’t easier to attract players to play in sunbelt places with low taxes?
