I was sad last year because I felt they emptied the tank. This year I am not as sad because I don't think they did. This year's team seemed MUCH more fragile than last year and accepted it more easily when things didn't go their way. They didn't adjust in game when things went bad, they simply accepted it and hoped to make a 4th line, bottom defensive pair, or goalie change to "fix" it next game.
Stuart Skinner.... He seems like a great guy. I sincerely wish him well in the rest of his career. That said, I think it is best for all involved if he moved on. He carries a lot of the burden of these last few years, fair or not doesn't matter right now. The first game next year when he lets in an early bad one or two, he will get dumped on. Yeah, I did it too so I am not throwing stones at others on this. I think it is best for Stuart Skinner the person and the goalie to start over somewhere else. I think the sky is the limit with this team if they ever get a goalie they are fully confident in. You can't simply run this goaltending back next year and expect a different result. That is the definition of insanity, isn't it?
