I agree to give him a bit more rope than say Dach, until that big contract kicks in. After that, he better be driving that Suzuki line.

Slafkovsky potential is incredible. We make such a great pick with him.

Some people speak like he can already put PPG season, but damm, he is a 20 years old player. Pace 42 pts per season so far in his career, that's very solid for a young guy.

I'm very confident that he is going to put PPG's season's when he is going to develop all his tools.

We give him a high contract, but this guy can easily explode anyday, he is a monster in the making.

Aside from his vision and passing his actual puck skills all seem pretty mid-tier, unless I am missing something.

He's not a threat on our PP at all aside from passing to 13, 14 or 92, unless a shot hits his stick and he tips it in, he is not a real shooting thread on the PP (or even really 5on5). The best way he's a threat is to stand in front of the net and hope for a rebound. That is kind of discouraging.

Then you factor in he's not using his side and strength like he was in his half of last season, he looks like a completely different player, like he's just chillin now.

Maybe in the 2nd half of this season he will turn it around like he did last year.

But for him to be successful, he needs to impose his size/strength. He doesn't have the skillset to just be a finesse player and thrive, unless he's okay with being essentially what he is now, the grinder on the line he's on with some good vision and passing.

I think it's awesome. KH can sell the idea to future free agents that if they choose to play with the Habs, they will be able to "buy" their car at places as far as Kingston, ON.

Slaf needs to stay with Caufield and Suzuki. He knows how to play off of them, he can comfortably make his reads and play within himself and produce. He isn't ready to drive his own line, so for now you keep Slaf with that group until his confidence has crystallized at the NHL level and he's got the mindset that he can dominate any given night on any given line.

Slaf needs to stay with Caufield and Suzuki. He knows how to play off of them, he can comfortably make his reads and play within himself and produce. He isn't ready to drive his own line, so for now you keep Slaf with that group until his confidence has crystallized at the NHL level and he's got the mindset that he can dominate any given night on any given line.

Agree WTK with one caveat. I am a Slaf pusher. Always have been. I don't know if he will ever be a line driver in the NHL. But what he is, is an incredible secondary piece on a top line. Mold him into a power forward, that when placed on the top line with a couple of stars, he makes them better, and they make him better. I don't think Slaf is meant to pull along dead weight, and that is okay. For him to thrive he needs to be on a line with better players than him who he can actually compliment and make better.

I think that makes sense.

is it crazy that he's not a line driver at 20 years old? he might be a complimentary player the rest of his career, or maybe by the time he's 24 he'll be the guy you move to a different line to get it going when the team's in a slump.

i thought he'd be on the PK by now but Anderson's slight resurgence has made that unnecessary. i still think Slaf gets that extra responsibility within a couple of years.

Wanna see him shoot more...................he is a pass first guy, but last year, he started to shoot more, and also park his butt in front of the net for rebounds.

Fixed. It's much easier to play well when you are with a credible center, that's why he couldn't produce away from NS, Laine is in the same situation.
