You are right, Slaf's regression in his third year is amazing and we should totally embrace his effort out there. I appreciate how he floats around with that stupid carefree look on his face and hangs his head in shame every third shift. Why would we expect effort if you are not putting up points? That's a wonderful process I never considered. I do not knock players that look like they give a shit. Cole Caufield is trying out there, Suzuki is trying, so are Arbs , Guhle and Hutson

I could give 2 shits about the losses, it's the horrific effort 3 out of 4 games.
'Development is not linear' - yeah, and without effort it isn't going to happen
He's still only 20, the brain isn't even fully developed yet. Let's allow him some time. We're not in a rush, especially since the contract hasn't even kicked in yet.

The fact that after 148 NHL games, he on pace for 41 points every year, that's really good for a 20 years old player.

We have all said that Slaf will be a monster at 22-23 years old, not 20 years old. His contract will be very fine, maybe a steal if he play in his top potential.

This a beast in the making 100%

I think people are panicking because they’re seeing potential behavioural concerns as opposed to a talent issue. I really don’t think there’s anything to panic about yet. He’s shown he has the talent last season. He just needs to put it together. I think a coaching change would probably do good for both him and Dach. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the players are tuning out St. Louis this year. Constantly being in the bottom 5 of the league also isn’t a good motivator.

Behavioural concerns is pretty normal at that age. It becomes less normal at 22-23.

We learned that Slaf absolutely can’t drive a line right now…. It just feels like MSL stuck Slaf with Dach to either get Dach out of the funk or get a second line going. Unfortunately, Instead of lifting Dach up, Slaf regressed to his level. They were barely distinguishable before they were broken up.
