It's the believers excuse to keep face everytime their protected players fails, not worth the debate, it'll happen again with Slaf if he doesn't turn it around!
"nah he was good, Marty just ruined him" zzz
You're 100% right not worth the dabate when it's not gounded in reality.

Some of the takes on this board are insufferable. No analysis, no research, just pure negative emotions. I wonder why I still go on here daily.
I'm asking myself the same question but i'm a sucker for hockey so i guess it's like being stuck in a toxic relationship you wonder why doesn't he or she gets out XD

Last season don't mean shit now, if he's an 8 million dollar player he should prove it on any line. This Club Med blullshit has been killing the club for 30 years. Pat Falloon had a good season once, so did Alex Daigle, Yakupov's first season was solid in Edmonton. Primetime money should mean delivering on your contract moving forward.

He isn't skating, hitting, making plays, shooting.. he's playing like an uninterested kid who is going to be rich no matter what. I hate these contracts. One year, and boooom here's a huge contract.
If last season don't mean shit now why him not being paid 8 millions now means shit too?

When this team is going to start winning more games (I'm 100% sure when Demidov will play next year, 2nd year of Hutson and Laine healthy), this team will be better.

Slaf will play much more better, he want to win and this team will not make playoffs this year (very unlikely), so, maybe it's normal that he dont put his 100%, he want to make the difference and no playoffs, that hurt feeling of a player.

I dont said it's 100% that, but that's not help for sure.

So we want to do the Bergevin thing again? Guy has a good year, big money rolls in, and we are handcuffed?

Is it possible that Slaf didn't focus on right things during summer training? This is a common mistake among young players.

Top speed according to NHL edge is down from last year. Lot less rushes at 20+ mph

I think it's possible.. he did some things last summer that were to address specific weaknesses in his game, he said he wasnt doing anything like that this summer.

Bergevin never gave big money to any young players. Both Patch and Gallagher first contract were very team friendly and both ending toward the end of their 20ies and that probably played a role in them wanting to get paid when those contracts ended. We bridged Subban for no reason before having to pay him. We also Bridged Price and then signed only 6 years when we paid him relatively good money before having to pay him too much for 8 at the end of his 20ies. Even the vets it was only at the very end that MB gave the money and i personally suspect he knew he was done and knew he would not have to deal with those contracts. He lowballed most players until the very end outside of Subban and Price who he had to pay after the bridge.

Had MB actually commited to young players and signed 8 years deal early we would have been in a much better position to improve the team when needed. If SLaf has what it takes the contract wont be a problem. It will be a problem only if he doesn't in which case he's going to be a flop anyway. He's a 1st overall pick not a 2nd round pick he has to be a leader and not a follower who need to be sheltered on depth lines with a small prove me what you got contract.

Lack of rushes is because he was puck watching earlier in the season and not moving his feet. He had like four 20+ mph rushes by mid-November. Top speed is similar, if Slaf never move his feet, he's always starting from 0 so it takes longer to reach the top speed.

And it looks more mental than anything. I also think he had a minor lower body thing annoying him a few games ago (might still do) because he had zero acceleration when he was trying to accelerate on a breakaway, but that wasn't an issue before that.

What's the McDonalds ad curse context?

Something bad happens shortly after

Galchenyuk -> discovered les amazonnes
Pacioretty -> goals totals went down
Petry -> injury
Drouin -> crushed by Ovie and never the same
Caufield/Toffoli -> Toffoli traded

Last time they helped;
