He's shooting more than he did at the start of last season. The sh% is half what he had last season thought, but he played with an upper body injury for a bit. And he's shooting more despite the total lack of sustained possession from the team this year compared to last season.

I actually call that progress. His main hurdle right now is self-confidence.
Baby steps it is then.

it's not just the statsline to me it's the effort, he spent most of those 20 games not looking so unacceptably uninterested it drives me nuts

Lane Hutson makes a lot of mistakes, has no goals, but it doesn't matter. He's SHOWING that he has something to offer and that he's there to play. That's the bare minimum you'd want out of a 1OA

Don't be another Galchenyuk with a fluke half season that will cover for years of "be patient, remember that's a 30 goal scorer!" please

Still a 1 OA playing his D+3 and not having morethan one goal after 20 games while having PP1 time is not a good look.
"Good look". What does that actually mean apart from being a nebulous turn of phrase? Did you post the same boring nonsense last season when he only had 1 goal and two assists until his 19th game wherein he score his second and fourth point. In case you're wondering, he's on his 17th game one year later with only 1 goal and eleven assists.....

Hutson and Slaf were both drafted in the same year and have the same stat line, except for a goal/assist difference. Your post is absurd pretending that Slaf is damned by his play but Hutson is amazing.

Learn to read. Hutson is showing amazing effort out there, despite being 5'7", while Slaf plays without effort despite being 6'4" 240lbs.

and "same stats line" one has 22 NHL games experience and is a 2nd rounder, the other one has 138 and is a 1st OA.

Yes he surprised positively at the end of next season when nothing was at stake. I never said he is a bust or anything but you are acting like a fanatic of a cult, we can t criticize a prospect even when they objectively suck. Right now he looks slow, lost on the ice, his shot is weak. Facts sorry they hurt your feelings.

I have to say, I had issues with the draft pick, but I did not have disinterested and lacking in effort on my bingo card. 2022 is showing itself to be a rough draft, though, in all fairness.

Slafkovsky has 22 shots on goal this year. Not really a good idea to cherry pick stats and complain about him having only one goal.

He has 11 points in 20 games. It's subpar compared to what we expected, but he still has 60 games to improve his PPG. I still think he finishes with 60-65 points.

Should we change the title to the parabolic regression thread? :sarcasm:

18 games. He missed two.

If you watch Slaf and Hutson and see the same level of effort and talent on display, then i’ll have what you’re having

he has to figure out what type of player he is. It will help turn up the intensity.

He shows flashes of this or that, but I haven’t seen anything with consistency. A goal here, a nice pass there, using his imposing size…

But he’ll also take too long to shot, turn the puck over, and lose physical engagements … all too often.

I haven’t really seen a great comparison. I see Rantanen a lot - no. C’mon. He isn’t going to be an elite goal scorer. I’d like to see a feisty, hard to handle down low, good around the net presence. Like a M Tkachuk.

Habs are 32th in the NHL for shots. They are basically a huge joke. But the biggest joke on the team is Slaf. Sure he missed three games, but his shot output is of a 4th liner. He's outshot by Heineman and second lowest amount on the team.

Our first line of Caufield, Suzuki and Slafkovsky have 47, 45 and 22 shots. He'll do all kinds of intricate low-percentage passing to avoid shooting. He never creates rebounds or havoc around the net. I would bench him until he realizes that he's an offensive player and part of that is shooting on net.

Him and a number of players don't seem to understand that their actions without the puck, even when not in the defensive zone, have an impact defensively.

From a half-assed forecheck that allows a clean break out, to making a horrible pinch attempt instead of absorbing contact and making a sound play.

You are 6'6 340 lbs my guy.

He's our only 1OA we got since forever. He might not be the skillest or the smartest but he's ours.

I have zero expectations for him this year. If we can get a 1st OA pick this year that would be the best thing that can happen to this organisation because we suck at trading (aka Newhook).

But Next year, he better be ready. Demidov + the new 1st OA kid + hopefully Mesar (god damn injuries) are coming
