The Sins Of The Buffalo Sabres In The Last 15 Years, List Them...(One Per Post Please)

I'm coming from 3 years into the future to put in adding Eric Staal to payroll.

Kevin Adams apparently elected Sabres GM for life

The worst NHL defense pairing I think I’ve ever witnessed. It is 10 years later now, and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Andre Benoit and Andrej Meszaros
Meszaros is so bad he doesn't even exist on puckpedia. lmao

Hiring LaFontaine when he had no experience based on a dinner with Terry.

Jesus, the precursor that was for this franchise.

Every NHL message board is like "nobody qualified is willing to go to Buffalo".

But jokes on them, there's some unqualified people who walked in the door and noped right out of the situation too.

No change, no pause, no hope! Yet I endure.
I ask the Earth, have not the mountains felt?
I ask yon Heaven, the all-beholding Sun,
Has it not seen? The Sea, in storm or calm,
Heaven's ever-changing Shadow, spread below,
Have its deaf waves not heard my agony?
Ah me! alas, pain, pain ever, for ever!

I'm in the minority but I liked Kane as a Sabre. Whenever I watched, he was the only forward that seemed to give a shit about getting back and defending too.

Bogosian on the other hand ...

In a long, growing list of ex-Sabres I can't stand, Bogosian remains one of the top contenders as my least liked.

My favorite obvious "oof" from the Adams era:

- Not moving Ullmark for an asset when he wasn't signed at the deadline.
- Using a goalie protection slot on Ullmark when he wasn't signed at the expansion draft (they protected a UFA goalie rather than trade for a goalie to protect....when they didn't have a starter for the next year)

Just hoping and praying a Ullmark would sign rather than doing anything proactive. And doubling down on the mistakes rather than just not being stubborn.

Wasn't it Meszaros that went on a semi-heater the last week or so of a season to try to throw a wrench into the works in one of the "tank" years? He like scored seven points in six games or something like that after only recording three points all season. Was that him?
