This has been an undeniable fact since the Oilers lost to Vegas 2 years ago. That’s when we found out for the first time (mostly through what happened with the Bruins that playoff) that head coaches through out the league had abdicated all goalie responsibilities to the goalie coaches and they were the ones calling all the shots. Before that nobody had realized the power and importance these goalie coaches had now. They weren’t thought of any differently then say a trainer or video coach. Nobody cared that Schwartz had been employed for a decade with no track record of any success in all that time.

Now we’ve known for 2 years what that position is and how important it is and yet I’ve never heard this guys name brought up in the media. They refuse to acknowledge him let alone discuss how underwhelming his performance has been for a very long time. It’s really bizarre.

The media today generally absolved Skinner of poor play last night and instead believe fans are being unreasonable. I guess they need to keep their press passes.

I am pretty sure it's b/c Podz hits and creates chaos when he is not doing anything else. Looks like he hustles more.

Skinner doesn't really do anything if he is not putting up points. Hard to do when the KnobGobbler is throwing him in the bottom 6. He sewered this player all year.

I can see other guys being hesitant to come here on 1 year deals after seeing what happened to him.

He didn’t do himself any favours last night. Could choose a few guys based on last night, but the others PK. I just don’t think his style of play is suited for playoff hockey, and it showed last night. I’d give him another chance in the hope it was a one off, but if Kane is ready, then that’s an easy swap.

Not sure how a player can play 5 minutes, almost all of it in the PK, on a PK he barely played with, on a team he barely played on, and hope to be effective.

The Oilers are absolute masters at setting players up for failure.

Brilliant coaching really. Play a guy who hasn’t played for a month down in the farm, have him PK and then give him 5 mins TOI, and gas out your other 5 D while the puck moving transitioning struggles even more. Dineen can skate and pass but knobs too far up his ass this year

But it’s becoming a schtick for him just to say shit for the hits and not offend the inner circle at the same time. Every time he suggest the Oilers are looking at “mystery player” so and so, hint hint, I just tune out. It’s not facts at that point just schtick.

We have a good 2-3 relatives of Skinner here. Staunch supporters.

Nobody on this team is beyond criticism, but I think a person is batshit insane if they think Skinner is any sort of part of a solution going forward.

He better be done or the backup next year. He has the pleasure of being the top 3rd worst playoff goalie among active goalies.

Edmonton should get some special award for making the finals last year with this.
