Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

you can make that arguement without bringing up Sorokin.

I dont think anyone here think Skinner is enough after his showing this year.

Hehe, maybe I'm just giddy seeing NYI not retaining Lou anymore and looking for a new GM, so perhaps Sorokin wasn't the greatest example.
Point still stands though, that an average goaltending performance still nets this team wins. Something Stu has epically failed enough this season alone.
Mind you, there's been posters on here all season long that have attempted to gas light others on deflecting blame away from Skinner's dreadful performance.
I'm not even asking for him to go full out Vezina caliber. But asking him to at least be average in net is literally looking for pigs to fly at this point.

Picard for game 2 for me.

it literally stops right there. That goal was the fault of everyone on the ice and the coach. It just happened to be McDavid who made the wrong play.

But the wrong play didn't lead to an unstoppable shot. It was anything but, and that's on Skinner. Knob and Skinner are far more at fault than McDavid, whose effort should absolutely absolve him of any guilt regardless.

im blaming him for the goal yes because thats where the play started, im not screaming hate from the roof top over it. Im just pointing out where the problem started and why it lead to a goal. McDavid made the mistake that lead to LA getting the goal. If you go back and read my post about it you'll see i also gave them a pass over it because they were too gassed because Knob shouldnt have had them out at that time after a long shift. It was casscading errors that started with an ill timed pinch from McDavid. Thats not hate.

Do you think McDavid is above any criticism? because if you do you are just being disingenuous. Even the best players ever make mistakes and errors. It doesn't invaildate any of their accolades.

All credibility out the door. No One, and I mean No One should be looking at McDrai for any mistakes, giveaways or anything. They single handedly tore the leagues best defensive team at home in 1 period by themselves. Fxxx any help. They did it. Just the 2 of them.

These guys are above criticism for me at this point considering how horrific these clowns in management have screwed these 2 over this year.

Absolute gong show. Jackson and Bowman.

Goaltending, letting young talent walk, not improving the roster in any meaningful way,

If I was in this management group and Katz, id be embarrassed to show my face to 97. These guys are single handedly ruining his legacy. Fn clowns

meh. If the Oilers hit paydirt and score the winning goal, and nearly did, then the whole optics change. The feeling at the time, and it was real looking at the bench, is the Kings were KTFO. They were shellshocked, They collectively shit their pants. In realtime was the right move continuing to at least put McDrai out there as they were owning and scoring in bushels. We scored 5 goals in last 21mins and 2 goals in last 2mins. We were completely clobbering the Kings at that point. Most coaches would have gone for the killshot while blood was in the water.

Sure IF they hit paydirt but they didnt. IF a lot of things happen the optics change but Knobby took a calculated risk and it backfired in spectacular fashion, hence why I posted that last year he has the Midas touch, this year all he touches turn to stone.

The bottom line is he gambled and lost. Bouchard cannot be trusted in the final minute of a close game which is why he usually is not out there in those situations and why he never penalty kills. He has the defensive awareness of a carrot.

if you say so. IM sorry for having the controversial opinion that the GWG was easily avoidable by McDavid getting back instead of pushing.

Klingberg is an utter mess in our zone with the puck. Maybe the Kings aren't threatening enough to get away with trying him. But running him at #6 for 10 minutes is adding more stress on an already shaky goalie.

In before the next skinner post game loss: "Guys deserve better, I thought I played ok, of course there's a few I would like back, things I have to work on, lots of good to take from tonight, come back stronger, and blah blah blah blah."
I'm really feeling good and I'm ready for this next game and I want the cage and...

Its interesting that for over a calendar year some posters were taking my head off for suggesting that Skinner wants the cage every game no matter what and along with Schwartz is calling his own number. He'd rather start the games than have the better goalie in net. Such a team guy.

You meet people like Stu Skinner once in awhile. They charm the socks off everybody in the room and solicit favor from all around. Everybody says things like "I so much wanted that guy to succeed"

Skinner works the room, he always has. Its how he brought this stage show of limited talent all the way to the bigs. He's a self busker, always.

Trouble is the selfish aspect doesn't mesh so well in the context of team sports.

I would say I’m more of a Bouchard fan than a hater. He does a lot of good things on the ice. But his play this year has been disappointing to say the least.

Whenever I hear the organization (Knoblauch, Bowman etc) talk about him, its always sunshine and butterflies. There’s literally no accountability for anything he does. Its hard to blame Bouchard, when hes always getting a free pass. I just find it baffling honestly. Its also not good for his game long term.

Its kinda the same thing with Skinner. I don’t want to compare him to Bouchard because Bouchard at least his good moments outweigh his bad moments.

But like is our group so fragile that no one is allowed to be criticized?

My point was “who cares about last year” but you’re Skinner Derangement Syndrome kicked in and completely missed the point

"your"

Again, way too soon for you to turn heel again.

Of course, but it isn't always the case. Teams can't always play a full 60 minutes. That's why its nice and luxurious to have a goalie that can still lock and hold the fort down. I look at Sorokin as an example. Islanders were a pile of meh this season, and Sorokin still held the fort down on multiple occasions despite having to play 61 games this year.

Same can't ever be said for Skinner because nobody knows if he's gonna put up a strong game or leak more goals swiss cheese style. He's Mr inconsistency, literally.

I mean how many people expected him to shit the bed like this? Half the board? More? Sounds like he's becoming pretty consistent...

I personally don't hate Stu. He was nice enough to stop driving from leaving Rogers Place for a quick picture with my fiance's grandma (who knows nothing about hockey or who Skinner was). But I have no more patience watching him in net potentially wasting another year of prime McDrai because he couldn't save a beachball if he tried.

Run with Pickard the rest of the way and figure out the goaltending during the offseason whether that involves Skinner as a 1A/1B or not. I'm done watching him and especially done having to hear his post game loss yapping.
