Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

What makes it harder for me is seeing signings like Stolarz Kemper and Blackwood proving there are relatively cheap goalie options out there
Kuemper wasn't cheap, he was a cap dump for PLD. Stolarz was, but he largely came out of no where to have this season. Blackwood is a massive miss by this team.

Not really. He makes for a convenient scapegoat as Schwartz and Bowman will escape scrutiny. Seriously what were they even thinking with Bowman.
But it's Bowman's job to make sure we have a good goalie in net? Everyone and their dog complained he didn't address goaltending in the summer or at the deadline.

You are, as always, not making sense. You're contradicting yourself.

Too bad it takes a Draisaitl dressing down of his teammates followed up by an immediate goal to get these clowns going after 39 minutes of shitty low intensity hockey.

You’d think the coach might have thought about it after getting hammered 4-0 and seeing Skinner and Bouchard playing like total morons as usual but noooooooo, that’s too much emotion for him to show. Must. Be. Disciplined.

Knoblock just stands there with his hands in his pockets wondering why he dressed Josh Brown and if it might rain tomorrow and spoil his morning walk. The guy is literally a corpse on the bench.

Bowman did f*** all for the team during the season. Media won’t question him though. They’ll get their marching orders. We wasted a year on this bozo. How do you think Schwartz has gone by undetected for a freaking decade?

Every year I come here to tell you all that Skinner is Dan Cloutier 2.0 and that the oilers absolutely need to launch him into the sun.

This is the first year where it seems the bulk of you agree with me. I’ve heard some horrible excuses defending this guy over the years but he just cannot be trusted. They win in spite of him, never because. Skinner is the worst starting goalie of any playoff team for another year.
Some of us (myself being part of that group) have never seen Skinner as a guy you will win with and have been saying what you have said here. That crowd grew a lot this season, but there are a few staunch supporters left. Even the MSM guys were saying they needed to upgrade at the deadline but Bowman & Jackson figure they’re the smartest men in the league. Then we have the untouchable Dustin Schwartz, who as goalie coach, every goalie has regressed under him. All we can really hope for is Knob grows a pair and plays Pickard in hopes he becomes a late-bloomer, like Tim Thomas because with Skinner, this will be a 4 or 5 game series.

The Oilers have zero chance with Skinner. He is getting statistically worse each season and why management has hitched their cart to him I cannot understand. I’m not even sure he’d last in the KHL.

Stop blaming anyone other than Skinner. There are deep state oiler fans in name only, Ofinos here that secretly try to sow dissent to destroy our community.

Focus on Stuart. Let's run this f***er outta town.
As bad as Stu is I feel this is counter productive.

Sure, we can try Pickard but we need to win with the group we have. Support them as long as we're in it.

I’m gonna stray off the beaten path a bit here and say I don’t think it’s Knob’s call who starts.

Knob was pretty critical of Skinner down the stretch and I don’t get the feeling he particularly likes him as a goalie.

If we’re gonna blame someone here it should probably be Schwartz.

Schwartz should be the very first thing that the team changes this off season.

Amazed that the team tied it, but unless Pickard started the third, I had no faith in stealing a win.

Glad it wasn't a shut out. Something we can build on.

Just hope we can finally see a playoff series with both McDavid and Draisaitl both playing to their fullest potential on separate lines. They always seem to take turns going supernova unless they play together.

Yes, elite dmen can play those minutes and not make the dumb errors Bouchard does. At that point Bouchard had just played what 3/4 of the last 5 minutes straight? There was no reason for him to be out there and no reason for him to be overplayed that much but the coach chooses too. A guy like Bouchard at most should be playing 22/23 minutes. He is a 2/3 d not an elite number 1. You play a guy like that like he is that number 1, part of the consequences is more mistakes especially in a situation like Knoblauch was overplaying at the end.

There was no reason to put those guys out once the game was tied. Just take them off, put fresh legs out to drain the clock and send your top guys out in OT.

Not debating that either. Dumb coaching mistakes, poor defensive play by #2 and amateur hour goaltending cost us the game.

10 teams addressed goaltending in the last calendar year. We were told finding goalies is hard by Kenny and his Krew followed up with goaltending isn’t a problem on this team by Bowman and his Boyz.

Skinner and Bouchard singlehandedly lost us that game
I’d say not starting in time is what cost them the game.having six shots on net by the half way point is what cost them the game. Skinner and Bouchard certainly didn’t help, at all and those goals against are bad, especially the 4th goal.

The team hasn’t played together in over a month and longer for some other guys. It was understandable there would be some rust. Seeing how LA played though, I’m not worried at all for the series. People are talking like LA clowned the oilers last night. Far from it. Those chuds shouldn’t be happy about last night. They blew a 4 goal lead in less than a period.

Unfortunately we didn't see much promise from any of their wingers when they were apart. Podkolzin as usual was an xGF% tank but we know he's not actually going to score. Everybody else was shit. Hyman, RNH, and Arvidsson in particular got caved again. Skinner not much better.

That’s because together they are a force multiplier. Koach KK has decided when playing apart Connor Brown should be stapled to McDavid while Hyman lost his hands this year, and a pair of 4th liners should be welded to Draisaitl.

Knobby is making decisions this year that rival the dumbest decisions of one Dallas Eakins.

I remember years ago someone did a comparison between Chiarelli and a potato for who would do a better job managing the team and the potato won handily.

About a decade later and I’d trust that exact same potato over any loser we have hired. Holland and Bowman are duds and we were warned beforehand.

Criticizing one player doesn’t equal criticizing management here. And really there’s lots of problems with this team that he failed to address. Not like it really matters.
That one player is the biggest problem we have. You criticise EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME, except, for some reason, Stu Skinner.

Then when others criticise him you say we have bad management. Like, yes, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE SAYING.

I think a carrot or perhaps turnip might have been better than a potatoe but that’s just splitting hairs.
