Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

Bouchard handles the puck more than any other player in the league. No other D man who has played with McDavid was able to put up the points Bouchard has. He had a rough start to the game, but then rallied with 3 points, +1 and played 28 mins.

He had 3 secondary assists giving pucks to McDavid and was the direct cause of 2 goals against on terrible turnovers and had a very weak play on the winning goal. For the minutes he plays he can’t make the defensive miscues he makes at the rate he makes them.

When you look at adjusted scoring where secondary assists are worth less he falls way down compared to other equally offensive D men.

He should be moved for a D man who can get pucks to McDavid and be steadier through 200 feet and more defensively aware before his $10+ M contract ask happens.

That said we also need a starting goalie that isn’t a backup. Holland put Skinner into a no win position by signing Campbell - thanks to a glowing recommendation by Mr Schwartz. JJ & Bowman failed the team by not addressing goaltending.

Kempe and Gavrikov mocking (deserved) fat f*** moustache post game.

Nice photo. These guys are sitting around like they won the Cup already. Smug pieces of shit

In one of his recent interviews I remember Knob saying that he expects to see both goalies in these playoffs. It’s as if he was expecting Skinner to shit the bed at some point.
Kind of contradicting of him to leave Skinner in for the whole game instead of giving him the boot after 3 or 4-0. We would be up 1-0 if Knob was a competent coach.

That has to be Skinner’s last game as an Oiler NHL goaltender.

You knew he would **** it up somehow. You knew it.
I keep saying this but this org...

Then we have the telecast singing Skinners praises DURING this game. "He's so poised and calm playing the puck" yeah, to anywhere. This is the sting for me is as long as Skinner is in net this postseason the double whammy is seeing both how awful he is and how much Debrusk and Michaels talk him up. Its as if they're trying to throw salt in wound.

We're not that stupid Oilers broadcast. Skinner is an imposter.

You're the type to say the skies green when everyone else says its blue because "hive mind" guys not because we just witnessed another absolute disaster of a game from him but because we all have a secret agenda and we're out to get him.
He also acts like only we think he’s junk. Everyone outside of Edmonton thinks he’s a joke.

This.

He shits the bed in every metric. Every. Single. Metric. His advanced analytics are amongst the worst in the league. His counting numbers are amongst the worst in the league. His playoff metrics are amongst the worst of all time. Eye agrees with this also. The Oiler standing by this goaltender is absolutely mind boggling.

Another player that has the adoration of the management is Hopkins. An absolute black hole 5v5 since his rookie year. At this point in his career he is a 4th line winger who can penalty kill. He is beyond horrid on the PP. Oilers media has such an inferiority complex that no one retired an oiler they are all up in his ass.
No, but don't you see?

Remember, Bowman said the Oilers own analytics show that Stu is better than what the public numbers say.....

Their analytics department must smoke a lot of weed and put in some wrong numbers in their code.

Daryl could have paid an HF Boards member $100K and they would have done a better job this summer and deadline

And once again we lose when we outhit a team, it’s ridiculous what our record is, which makes no sense. We actually softened them up a fair bit tonight, war of attribution sort of thing.
Most teams lose when they outhit the opposition. More hits usually mean you are chasing or have the puck less.

Arvidsson and Podkolzin are useless.
Perry brings SOMETHING
Nuge is useless as well
Hyman had a bad game
Frederic looks like he is still injured.
Walman had some good plays but made some real dumb decisions.
Josh Brown played 2:20 5v5 zero reason for him to ever play again.

And yet, even though all of that is true...we win this game if Stu stops even one of the two shots a league average goalie should stop.

I’m gonna stray off the beaten path a bit here and say I don’t think it’s Knob’s call who starts.

Knob was pretty critical of Skinner down the stretch and I don’t get the feeling he particularly likes him as a goalie.

If we’re gonna blame someone here it should probably be Schwartz.

Oilers had 6 shots 1/2 way through the game. They didn't come to play. I need to see the last goal replay. Looked like another bounce went Kings way and puck went over Foegles back. Skinner was screened all night. D needs to play bigger

For most teams it would be motivation, but I get the impression that Skinner is rather fragile mentally this year.

Might just accelerate and exacerbate the tailspin he's been in all year.

Does it even matter at this point? The guy is basically unplayable
