Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

I'm at a loss of words. We came out flat as fk the first 40 minutes. Nothing new with the Oilers to b frank. We slow start. The amount of injuries we have had the last month it was expected again to be a slow go

But holy fk to come back amd tie the game and to have that whiff be the game winning goal os fkong mind boggling. Skinner was down amd out before the fking shot was muffed. Absolute fking disgrace.

On a positive note this was the best LA has to offer. We weren't even close other then 1 period amd we scored 4. Go figure

On to game 2.....
That’s the one caveat to all this.

That was our c? d? Game and LAs absolute best. Hard to do that for a full series.

They were hungry tonight. I give them credit. Wish my team started the game on time….

Bouchard also got beat to the slot - he didn’t even notice Foegele racing to the net until it was too late then skated himself off instead of clearing the front which would have allowed Skinner to see the puck and maybe make the save. Both guys need to be far away from this team this time next year.
I have a much longer leash for Bouchard because he has demonstrated actual good play in the past.

Something you can’t really say about Skinner.

He would t have still seen the puck and let it in, blaming Bouchard is amateur. That’s the weakest goal you will see in the entire playoffs. Not my fault skinner let in 6 tonight which isn’t shocking he’s sucked all season.

Well I call it as it is not the Bias this hive mind board runs on. He was screened on a shot that went no where near where it’s was expected to go.

The whole team played like garbage for over two periods, giving up lots of chances and only generating 6 shots through the first half of the game. The Kings played the better game and had the refs gift them prime opportunities at the perfect time.
Just throw in the towel. Clearly you won't but change the tune. Nobody on the board is going to listen to you ever at this rate. I'm being kind with this.

Bowman deserves every bit of this. McDavid does not.

99% of Oiler fans knew Skinner wasn't good enough. An upgrade in net would have been the single most impactful thing management could have done.
This.

He shits the bed in every metric. Every. Single. Metric. His advanced analytics are amongst the worst in the league. His counting numbers are amongst the worst in the league. His playoff metrics are amongst the worst of all time. Eye agrees with this also. The Oiler standing by this goaltender is absolutely mind boggling.

Another player that has the adoration of the management is Hopkins. An absolute black hole 5v5 since his rookie year. At this point in his career he is a 4th line winger who can penalty kill. He is beyond horrid on the PP. Oilers media has such an inferiority complex that no one retired an oiler they are all up in his ass.

That was a brutal goal to give up after that come back. At the end of the day though considering the situation after the second it’s not the worst outcome. We showed that we can score when we actually get it together and LA isn’t getting 6 every night. We can absolutely keep scoring 5.

Yeah, lets replace our one offensive D and then wonder why we cant breakout the puck, or make tape to tape passes.

LA might be getting 6 powerplays every night with how corrupt the NHL is though.

I’m not blaming Bouchard but he was awful defensively tonight including on that play - and Skinner let a floater in and was shit all game too. Both can be true.

f***ing tired of Skinner. He'll make sure McDavid and Draisaitl never get a cup
I'm tired of him, too, but to be fair this goaltending mess isn't his fault. He was (correctly) pencilled in to be the club's back-up for the current period, which would have been fine.

The massive screw-up that will cost our club a Cup was the signing of Jack Campbell, by Holland and his brainiac crew, which has forced us into the current situation.

(Saying that, they probably could have acquired a goaltender last summer by not wasting time on Arvidsson and J. Skinner, who they barely play.)

The unanswerable mystery of Stu Skinner is why the coaching staff and (apparently) organization feel duty-bound to put all their eggs in his basket. Skinner had a solid rookie season in '23, an okay sophomore season in '24 (nothing worth signing big contracts or getting extensions over), and a forgettable / AHL-level third season in '25. You'd think it would by now be obvious to the coaching staff that he is not as good now as he was two years ago, surely a worrisome trend with a 26-year-old (or whatever) goaltender.

PLAY THE GOALIE WHO'S BEEN BETTER THIS SEASON (i.e., Pickard). Why is this so difficult...??

Arvidsson and Podkolzin are useless.
Perry brings SOMETHING
Nuge is useless as well
Hyman had a bad game
Frederic looks like he is still injured.
Walman had some good plays but made some real dumb decisions.
Josh Brown played 2:20 5v5 zero reason for him to ever play again.
