Good to see Marek (and National guys) posting on the Sabres issues. We need all the help we can get! Not sure I agree with trying to find UPL a new home yet though ?

@JeffMarek and @wyshynski discussed UPL’s play, the potential for management to blame goaltending, and the constant stream of players that leave the Buffalo Sabres and find success elsewhere

More coverage the better but these people need to start attacking the problems and not carrying this narrative that Eichel, Reinhart and RoR were nothing until they left and immediately became great players. It’s lazy and bullshit. They also just conveniently omit Mittelstadt from history. And pretend that Cozens wasn’t total dogshit for two years before this amazing 9 game stretch where he’s a net zero at even strength despite playing with better players…but is somehow one of the greatest players that ever lived now.

Talk about spending. Talk about how Adams wouldn’t have been hired by any other franchise and no other franchise would retain him to this point if they had. Talk about Pegula being on 14 straight years of failed ownership and his decisions being to try less than hire someone competent who would question his word. Talk about how f***ed we are because of this regime…not how UPL, who they just signed and isn’t as good as Ullmark…who they tried to sign, are exactly the same situation.

Use the f***ing platform to talk about the f***ing truth.

I'd love to see the entire D apart from Dahlin sacked, traded or fired into the sun (metaphorically). Replace them all with people who are :eek::eek::eek::eek: to play against. People who make you pay for crossing the blue line. People who smash the forecheckers. People that take away centre ice by smearing forwards against the boards. Bonus points if they keep their sticks on the ice and cut off cross-ice passes. I don't care how good they are offensively, be a D. Be a :eek::eek::eek:.

I don't like the stream of goalie blaming.

Sabres are in a tough spot with goaltending. Levi seems ready now, but you just can't roll out a UPL/Levi tandem next year. You just can't (well maybe Kevyn can). They've tried it 2 years in a row and it's burned them both times. It's too much variability for a team that needs to make the playoffs, but you need to make a decision on your goalie of the future soon. Levi's an RFA and his leverage increases every year here on out. Maybe you can punt it another year and leave Levi in the minors and sign a veteran NHL backup, but the clock's ticking

For the 3rd year in a row he absolutely can and probably will do that.

I get the frustration of the goaltending situation, but a goaltending tandem of a 26 year-old with 150+ NHL games and 23 year-old with two full seasons of pro experience is not the same as rolling out a 24 year-old with limited and poor pro numbers and a 21 year-old with no pro experience. Just because the names are the same doesn't mean the results will be.

That being said, my personal lack of confidence in the tandem revolves squarely around my lack of confidence in UPL. I'd prefer if they could pull a Korpisalo for Ullmark type of trade to upgrade UPL, but unfortunately the goalie market this year looks particularly shitty.

The situation is the same though. Two unproven goalies who need a rock solid 1B if they win the job and neither can be that for each other.

Could it work?

Anything can.

Is it a smart choice 15 years into a drought with this regime on their own year six?

f*** no.
