S.S. Giggy
RIP 1974-2011
A part of me thinks that it is. If Quennville was indeed Verbeek's guy, he'd be hired already.I wonder if the displeasure of the fanbase has gotten through to the organization.

Part of me thinks that he is our guy and we are just waiting for the draft lotto to hit. Of course not many saw us taking Beckett, especially Beckett! So we may get surprised!A part of me thinks that it is. If Quennville was indeed Verbeek's guy, he'd be hired already.
For Woodcroft or Carle? No. For a guy that needs a special dispensation from the commissioner to be hired - a guy who will cause a stir if it even leaks that you interviewed him? I don't think Verbeek interviews him without clearing it with Samueli.I actually feel it's the opposite. Edmonton is crazy about hockey, they'll show up no matter who's there or how bad they're doing.
I also don't buy that Verbeek would need to clear an interview with the Samuelis, at least not the initial interview. It seems pretty clear at this point that our ownership is very hands off.
Not only are they aware of it, after Edmonton last year, they knew it would come before they even scheduled the first interview. They're not dumb. They knew there would be backlash. There is no way they're not aware of it.
First time? People will complain about coaching no matter what.At this point, I’m just ready for this whole thing to be over. Please pick the correct coach so we can all move on with our lives (preferably Carle works out so I don’t have to deal with this process for another 20 years)
There’s significantly more attention, from both the public and media, in Edmonton. Realistically, this just isn’t going to cause nearly the same wave. People moved on quickly from Bowman and I’d be shocked if they didn’t move on significantly quicker from Q.I actually feel it's the opposite. Edmonton is crazy about hockey, they'll show up no matter who's there or how bad they're doing.

You can't force someone to do whatever you want.Just another reason Verbeek sucks as a GM…..
Sorry I was being sarcastic, I am a big Verbeek guy. I was just making fun of people who go, why did we give up a second in the cutter deal. Why didn’t NYR retain on Trouba trade. You can't force someone to do whatever you want.
I think this basically confirms it will be Q.So realistically, probably, we’re down to
Woodcroft
Quenneville
Maybe an assistant for a team
Is that sarcasm too?I think this basically confirms it will be Q.
Probably, and honestly those are probably the 2 best guys available with NHL experience in the world currently (just coaching ability, not them as a person). So realistically, probably, we’re down to
Woodcroft
Quenneville
Maybe an assistant for a team
Because a guy signed an extension in a city and with a university he professes to love? There may be reasons to not like PV but this aint one of them.Just another reason Verbeek sucks as a GM…..
Playing devil’s advocate, no, but you CAN offer more money, and CAN offer more control, and CAN not have to micromanage everything. You can't force someone to do whatever you want.
PV could have played hardball knowing Carle would say no. This way PV can say, "There was no one else so we had to hire Q."Playing devil’s advocate, no, but you CAN offer more money, and CAN offer more control, and CAN not have to micromanage everything.
This could easily just be the NHL teams GM’s egos were playing hardball, and he had what he considered better options
