Speculation: The search for a new Head Coach - Rumors and Speculation

If he's the coach, I'm out on the Ducks. I'll find another team in the west to follow, or just focus on my east team.

And frankly, if he's hired, I won't be back even after he's gone, because it means the owners approved it too.

I didn't become a Ducks fan in 93 for any reason other than choice. So I can also choose to withdraw that support.
Again that's your call. More power to you... But I can tell you as a fan since 93 as well. 90 percent of the fans will come around if and this is a big if. They start winning again. Like I said. The baggage will always be there.

I guarantee if it’s March and Ducks are leading the pacific with Q as coach, the pond will be full. Guarantee. I’d bet a paycheck on it.

Well, Chicago's arena was packed during those years, but the shame will always be there. Maybe for some of them it's worth it, but I don't think I can ever think of those Hawks teams now without thinking of what was going on when it all started.

This is where I am at.

There is a bigger risk with hiring someone like a Carle who has no experience whatsoever in a NHL club. If Q can whip this team into a successful one instead of Buffalo West we should welcome it with open arms - regardless of the apparent baggage

Am I the only one excited here?

Proven winner, and his teams play at a super competitive level

No, you're not. I'm excited, too. But as I mentioned earlier, I'm not entirely comfortable with the situation, and truly have some mixed feelings. I'll obviously have to figure that out on my own if this does end up happening.

Why is Verbeek holding on assistant coaches Clune and Thompson? I'm still baffled about their employment with the Club. It just feels Verbeek is slow to react such as keeping Brown an extra year. Clune did worse than Brown! We have two seasons of Thompson's PK and defense and no one's impressed. Or does Verbeek not have enough networking to pull off assistant coaches if he hires a rookie coach?

The irony of wishing for Cronin to leave at any cost, and Quenneville being the coach on the other side is pretty funny. Arguably one of the only ways he could truly anger most people at the same time. Bravo

Yeah really. Can we go back to the euphoria of last week when we were all on top of the world and a relatively sizable segment of the fanbase wasn't ready to suspend their allegiance?

Oh I know it will be. BTW love the fact that you said POND... For us longtime fans.. It will always be the POND
Buddy I was at opening night in 93…… been with the team ever since. Started watching Kings in 85 when my pops was working in LA and got 2 free tickets….first had season seats to kings pre Gretzky and then for many years with the Ducks. It’ll always be the Pond to me.

As for hiring Q, pass. The shitstorm he will bring doesn’t seem worth it to me. There are other options. But I stand by what I said above, the Pond will be packed with Q as coach and if the team is rolling come next March. As we all know, OC is consistently fair weathered lol.

Sadly, the majority (or at least a lot) of So Cal fans are fair weather fans. If the team is good, they're not going to know anything about the coach and will come and watch just to see a winning product. Some teams (Lakers, Dodgers) are a bit different, but for the most part casual fans don't know enough and don't care enough to read up on a coach. If Ducks are good, they'll sell out playoff games easily.
