Speculation: The search for a new Head Coach - Rumors and Speculation

Purely hockey perspective.. can’t get better than Q. From a human being perspective? Whoa.

If they hire Q that is going to be so hard.

Everyone deserves a chance to make amends, and the truth is we have no idea what he has done since being banned from hockey. BUT, it would take a lot of convincing for me to not feel dirty about it.

The thing we can assume is that if he is hired it was a decision okayed at the very top, and you know they will want to avoid the PR nightmare. So there has to be some good reason why it is okay.

The truth is Q is probably perfect for this team if not for the whole "I ignored rape in my locker room because it was playoff time" thing.

There’s a reason it’s an attention whore like Bucci tweeting that… not saying it’s with zero merit but it’s a clickbait tweet that probably means the Ducks are doing due diligence on Q or are interviewing him, which shouldn’t be a surprise.

I tend to think with Carle out in Chicago he’s the favorite here

At this point, outside of the OT challenge, Buccigross’s schtick seems mostly to be engagement farming. He’s been around the league forever and he likely has connections (so I don’t completely dismiss it), but this feels like bait

IF (and I don't want this to happen) Q is the hire, I hope he or the franchise reveal exactly what he's done to make amends. If he has truly done a lot, then it makes a little more sense from a management/ownership perspective. If he hasn't done anything, let him go somewhere else (or hopefully never hired again). Either way, I'd boo him on opening night.

Hopefully we get someone sooner rather than later. If someone is hired by end of playoffs, Ducks can start making plans for the draft and who to push for in trades or free agency.

I’ve completely come around to the Carle idea.

So much so that I’d be a bit disappointed if the pick wasn’t him at this point
Got any reading or viewing material on him that you'd suggest?

I'm currently hesitant because he's inexperienced at pro level and frankly – because I just don't know that much about him.

Definitely no to Q. I'm still wishing for us to get Woodcroft. I think there are so many angles that fits.

I’m trying to view this potential from my professional landscape.

I work as a Probation and Parole Agent for Wisconsin DOC. I really think my job is about helping people, even those that are hopeless to a large extent, accept and take responsibility for their past but enlighten them on how to move forward and be better because of it. Thats really my job day to day.

From that lens, I have a hard time with myself saying “he doesn’t deserve a chance” when I l literally work with offenders who’ve done infinitely worse things than Q did (or didn’t do) in some cases, really take the ball and run with it and better themselves and the community.

Really an internal battle in my own head on this one.

This.

I think if you’re viewing him as irredeemable then you should check yourself.

I’m not saying he has redeemed himself, but it is possible. For a privilege like coaching in the NHL, that bar better be set very high.

Can someone describe specifically what it is that Q did or didn't do? Has it been shown that he was specifically aware of the abuse and did nothing?

I agree it ultimately depends on whether he accepted responsibility for his role (whatever it was) and took action to apologize and take accountability. The NHL and other sports have allowed many people who have committed bad acts including killing someone (Danny Heatly) continue their careers.

At this point, I don't enough information about the Q situation to make an assessment.

There was information going through the org about the allegations. Q was in the meetings and didn't remove that guy from the lockeroom.

He was part of the leadership group that failed to protect their players from a predator.

Woah. The Samueli’s pour all that money into Philanthropy and then do this…that’s kind of wild

I’m stunned by this honestly
