Apparently on the 32 thoughts podcast this morning, Friedman said that Chicago is going to make carle a massive offer to coach there. I seriously, seriously doubt we will be able to compete financially, but man that franchise is a dumpster fire. Have to have the upper hand everywhere else.

I remember hearing an interview of Carle, and he was hesitant to coach in the NHL because he didn't think he would have enough time to develop a team/culture/playstyle. Pretty sure in order to pry him away from Denver, a team would have to pay a lot of money and/or guarantee him a long contract.

At this point, it seems that Verbeek 100% has the Samueli's attention and their ear. If Verbeek wants a "name" guy enough, I think Henry and Susan are going to be willing to make the financial commitment.

7 years of missing the playoffs after over a decade of successful hockey probably gets the Samuelis attention to loosen the purse strings.

That and OC Vibe is not as an attractive destination when you have one of the worst teams in the league.

I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again with the preface that I have zero idea if he wants to coach, could do it well (I would bet he would do it well), etc… with the thought in mind that Martin St. Louis is making a nice career for himself as a coach after never having coached anywhere…


I don’t hate the idea of at least just TALKING to Scott Niedermayer to gauge his interest. He’s obviously still involved with the organization anyway. I’m just saying…

Both Eakins and Cronin were proven coaches as well. Even Carle is provenn. When we talk about proven we need to specify what this means. I think we are not the market and team to get someone who won the cup and is available - how many are of those breed?

I am not so sure what Woodcroft would bring to the table. And he had a stacked team.

Chicago does have some interesting young core as well. It is just that we have more pieces. But this is mainly because of the Cutter trade and the emerging of LaCombe as well as Dostal progressing the way we hoped.
