Didn't some have expiring contracts?
Easy enough to announce that those people won't be back.
Didn't some have expiring contracts?
Because the team is progressing so well! That playoff push in March proved it!Running back the entire coaching staff is also just... why???
My wishful thinking that Alec Baldwin will be our front offices motivational speaker
Motivational with an interesting way to keep his audience's attention. Will he be mishandling firearms when he's "speaking"?
He did say yes to the Skinner buyout…but then said no to using the cap space it freed up.I really don’t know what’s so hard for people to figure out about Pegula’s involvement. How can he be both absent and in on every decision? It isn’t a riddle. It’s all perfectly obvious when you realize every decision is “no”. He’s in on it. Every time. And it’s resulted in the abandonment of a franchise.
Can we have more scouts? No
Can we fill out the front office? No
Can we retain money on this trade? No
Can we replace assistant coaches under contract? No
Can we spend to the cap in a year we said was playoffs or bust? No
Whether Adams asks for any of this is a different question. Because his sole purpose in being out in place was to be the Pegula in the room at all times who says no.
absolutely in solidarity with you here and I had a 10 years headstart on you. It's f***ing sad, man. I just can't do it at all anymore. It is sad. started watching in 1985 and rarely missed a game from about 1987-2013. At college parties with girls everywhere I would be sequestered in a room watching a Buffalo/Montreal game. Probably known by some acquaintances as "that Sabres guy" (*not that Im claiming to be the biggest fan, just showing this team meant a lot to me and was proudly intertwined with my personal identity). During the Housley years, they lost me a bit by holding onto him so long and I learned how to fill in those 9-12 hours/week with other stuff. Now, a season can go by and I only watch a few games. Even with season tickets this season, I attended 3 games. The previous season was maybe 4 or 5. It all blends together.
I'm just sick of this owner's selfishness and taking the fans for granted. He must think we are all stupid, at least that is how I feel.
It is just not worth any money any more, not worth any time investment. I am at the point where it is not even worth discussing in a forum. There is nothing of note to talk about. They are even deliberately going back to the black uniforms which I hate(d).
I really miss having an NHL team.
He did say yes to the Skinner buyout…but then said no to using the cap space it freed up.
Of course they do. He's been a family friend for decades, since well before he bought the Sabres. Forton is the brother in law of Terry's long time business partner in oil and gas.Paul Hamilton mentioned this morning on wgr The Pegula's love Jerry Forton...
The buyout saves him actual cash…and artificially inflates what he’s “spending” on the cap for years. It was a win win when you’re a loser. He did say yes to the Skinner buyout…but then said no to using the cap space it freed up.
Maybe Terry Pegula should find the results of the 14 full seasons he’s owned the team difficult to hear.Maybe Terry pegula should hire someone who tells him things that are difficult to hear
I think Pegula will move Adams over to the business side of things. Keep him away from the hockey department.
The #1 job for a POHO of the Buffalo Sabres will be to make Terry "feel heard." That is not something that I could imagine Lou doing.
That is one reason why the idea of Kevyn Adams to the POHO role could make sense. I think he could be a solid buffer that allows the GM to focus on building the roster and then KA is the person that makes Terry "feel heard."
I would be shocked if it happened, but Jarmo as GM and Kevyn as the "Terry whisperer" POHO wouldn't be the worst FO "shakeup" that gets an outside voice and an experienced GM in here.
The buyout didn’t save him cash. It could’ve lost him cash, and would’ve lost him cash on any other team, as you well know. The buyout saves him actual cash…and artificially inflates what he’s “spending” on the cap for years. It was a win win when you’re a loser.
This is what is so depressing. They have a whack pack of people running the show with an unqualified GM. The results have shown failure. Why not continue?
Crowe and Nightingale are the biggest head scratchers. Like almost everyone in the organization, these guys would not sniff lateral employment elsewhere if they were let go tomorrow. Yet, these guys are on track for further influence and promotion. These guys will likely be Jakubowski's successor for GM, around the time where whatever mid-level USDP coach is in Rochester to take over as head coach.
Its as if the Sabres' entire plan and everything they do is in order to never have to hire someone from outside the organization again at any upper or mid-level position. If they were the class of the league and they were developing talent on the executive side, that is one thing. All this is doing is creating a never-ending cycle of failure.
Nightingale coaches 2 Junior Sabres teams as well, because sure. I bet he has all the time in the world? Maybe he has to ensure his kids get to play? The Junior Sabres, at many age groups seem to have been wrecked by nepotism and politics in the same timeline as the Sabres.
I don’t like what Blake has done, but I agree he’d still be an upgrade. Almost anyone would be.Wasnt there some rumor last week that Terry wanted to see what the market looked like before he made a decision on Adams?
Blake would be a very clear upgrade from Adams.
I did not see that from any reputable source.Wasnt there some rumor last week that Terry wanted to see what the market looked like before he made a decision on Adams?

I'd take Jarmo over Blake.I don’t like what Blake has done, but I agree he’d still be an upgrade. Almost anyone would be.
