I know this is going to trigger a lot of people, but Igor gets paid what he wants on a handful of other teams. We just decided to pay him. If I was him, I'm going to ask for that kind of money, especially knowing that I'm in my prime years and behind a team that can play marginal defense and score goals (Not this team), he's got a legit chance.

If Igor's going to waste his prime years playing for this shit team who has had defense issues for so long I can't even remember where they started, then might as well pay him. Who cares. We're buying up washed up D-men and past-prime forwards, keep the chaos going!
Drury would have overpaid for an inferior vet goalie if Igor left. Dont like the contract but it is what it is now.

I feel like coach and goalie are two positions/jobs beyond reproach because if you blame them you can't blame the rest of the roster.

There is NO WAY that even pre-Trouba trade that the locker room should have gone to such shit that they ended up 4-15 in a stretch. And as I said currently how the team is constituted if you put Mika and Kreider on the third line we are almost not worse than the team last year. The Panarin line being the biggest minus. Point is the team declining is one thing, completely self destructing is on the coach.

Completely destructing is on the “leadership” of the team. The coach isn’t, nor should be, the entire responsibility of leadership. Trouba was a whiny asshole and made no secrets of it. As the “captain” of the team. The rest of the assumed leadership - Kreider and Zibanejad - have practically played themselves out of any future contract. Was it pouting over Goodrow and Trouba as previously reported? If so, that’s not on Lav.

The team sucks ass if Zibanejad, Kreider, and Panarin are all demoted off the powerplay and 3rd line minutes. What other team could look half decent with $26.6M in cap hit pouting and playing like ass? Not a single one of them, and no coach changes that. Two of them have had 4 coaches here already. All of them are on at least their third.

Again, Lav getting fired isn’t going to break my heart, but it’s not going to solve the glaring issues with the team. Only Drury can do that, and I’ve liked what he’s been doing to that end.

Theres only so much blame Lav deserves, and he does deserve some....but at some point it's the players who have to look themselves in the mirror and realize this is all on them.Their uninspired, lazy, soft play for nearly 2 months is on every single 1 of them. They made their bed and now they have to lie in it
Cool... I'm happy to give Lavi a pass if he actually, you know... Coached.

Sit Mika. Sit Lindgren. Dress Jones. Dress Kaliyev. Play guys who want to actually play and aren't lazy emo rock stars.

The coach is not the entire leadership but I have said if you ship out players then ship them out but that shouldn't preclude you from shipping out the coach too.

What a farce and an insult to the fans' intelligence was that Miller-Mika-Panarin line.

To take a step back and look at the score prior to the empty net it was 5-3. We managed to score 3 goals. Most of our offense was sparked by our new player and 3 goals should be enough to win a game. It falls on our defense tonight imo. Specifically Lindgren and Igor. There were lots of other sub par aspects of our play, but Igor and Ryan if they had played better could have made the difference. That 1st penalty by Ryan was clown show caliber. Igor is very hot and cold and when hes cold its generally bad news for us. This year especially he's had some long spells of just mediocre play which for the highest paid goalie in the league - hes got to improve.

I mean, forwards too. They are soft as hell on the backcheck and covering other players. They always play like they believe they have an extra second to do something if the guy their covering gets the puck. Oh I'm standing right next to him I got him covered oops he just one timed a goal

other teams don't do this.

Igor should have stats among the top of the league. I don’t care what the number is but relative to his peers he should be among the best based on how he’s paid and he’s not even close.
“Well technically he’s not the highest paid goalie in the league until NEXT season”

just pretend I'm posting a gif of Therrien going "soft soft soft"

that's what this team is. soft as hell. soft on the puck, soft off the puck, won't put in the work

Just like the last three coaches and staffs who failed to motivate and/or get this group to play with even an ounce of sincerity.
What gets me about Lavi is, we lose one player in a trade. We get one player back. You might think that it would be good to put Miller on the same line as Chytil was on for 2 games, and then when they have a couple game break, redo the lines to his liking. But instead he mixes up the 3 lines, and then after 10 minutes he’s changing the lines again. He did the same thing on the west coast road trip, where they were like 12 and 4. He didn’t like how a couple guys were playing so he started to demote/sit people, but then he went nuts changing every line. Not only that, but they began to bring up some kids, and it was a total cluster. There just seems like there’s no rhyme nor reason to how he constructs his lines. I know the way some of the players have performed this year warranted some changes, but at some point you need some continuity so that each player feels comfortable with their assignments.

Sadly, losing consistently is the best agent of change. It took the collapse of 03-04 to blow it up and bring in a new era of Rangers hockey. I don't enjoy it but I feel it is a necessity in order to make the changes that must be done. Prior to this core, we actually had a very likeable core that played above their abilities and truly cared about winning and satisfying the fans with an honest effort night after night.

No one mentioned this but one of the most disgraceful things I've heard of during the broadcast was that the Rangers are the only team to not have a multi-goal comeback to win this season. They've barely won games in any comeback fashion. This after being one of the best in the history of hockey last year and in 21-22 they were very good too. I know when your play declines overall you lose more games in general. But to me this is damning and show there is no fight left in this team.

How many coaches do you guys need to see have the exact same issues with this roster before you think maybe it’s not all the coaches? Drury seems to think so, or he’d have fired Lav 30 games ago, rather than shipping out malcontents and filling or replacing roster holes (Goodrow, Trouba, Kakko).

I need a coach that won't force feed our worst players into the top lines and powerplays because theyre making too much money or because theyve been here for a while. I need a coach that gives and takes ice time based on performance. I need a coach that holds all players accountable regardless of how much they make or how long they've been here in the best interest of the team. I need a coach that can adjust his system to suit the players instead of forcing one on players unable to play it. Finally I need a coach that the players will listen to, I'm not interested in this coach anymore, he can't help this group win, every player is worse this year, that isn't something that just happens, the team needs a change behind the bench, the message is either bad or not being recievied

Theres only so much blame Lav deserves, and he does deserve some....but at some point it's the players who have to look themselves in the mirror and realize this is all on them.Their uninspired, lazy, soft play for nearly 2 months is on every single 1 of them. They made their bed and now they have to lie in it

One or two players regressing I can say it's not the coach. 4 or 5, ya were starting to look at the coach. Every player on this team is worse this year, Cuylle was the only one for a while that looked better but Lavi made sure that didn't last by dropping him down the lineup. The coach is the next shoe to drop.

Glad Miller had a great first game for you guys and I hope he regains his superstar form going forward. I don't know what the hell happened in Vancouver, it's an utter tragedy, but it is what it is. Hoping to get some answers for the fans sake now that he's out of Vancouver.

Thanks, too bad he was the only guy that showed up today.

I must say I agreed with both Messier and Slewban on how they diagnosed Fox's play on two goals against. Lazy skating on Boston's second goal.

And then everyone likes bashing Lindgren not tying up Coyle. But Fox just let Marchand walk right on in across the blue line. Panarin was racing down in support. Fox needed to stand up there. He didn't.

seriously tho how long can Miller play like this? If I am showing up to work and busting my ass its only a matter of time before my mind and body give out after playing on one of the softest teams in the league. He came to a team with stars that seem checked out and to a team that has less of a chance to make the playoffs than his original team.
Let's hope it mirrors the Jagr situation when he was dealt here at the end of the Dark Ages. The following season (albeit after the lockout), the team was turned over & he had his best stats since he left Pittsburgh. The team also became a perennial playoff team after being a league joke for 8 years.

I'm on the @TheWrongWay results-oriented train. I don't care how you do it, whether it's skill or will, you have to win puck battles. We were demolished in that department today. @TheWrongWay can close $50M deals in minutes under pressure.
Can't disagree. We were bullied today, IMO. Boston was running our guys all game with zero push back.
