The result of game 7 is almost irrelevant at this point.

Marner gets all his passes on Matthew's tape easy peasy lemon squeezie! And still Auston only has 1goal with how many chances damn! Over 50!! On the other hand you have Matthew's who cant make a pass to save his life, and everytime Mitch has to readjust himself to receive the pass let alone make a play off it or shoot the puck!

Sorry bud but let's face it, Marner worked on his game this year....he hits more is defensively responsible in all ends of the ice and showed he can score goals and still be top3 playmaker in the league!

Matthew's sure he scored goals again, that's nothing new....but did he work on his passing and team play...most definitely not!

The problem is that their switch only flips off. Too many times for too many years we've seen them completely tune out of a big game and get brutally embarrassed, yet somehow they don't even seem to care. I honestly wonder if some of these guys can even feel shame. It's clear that the only guys who actually want to be here are the vets like Spezza and Brodie. I'm conflicted because I want them to win tomorrow, but I also think it's probably for the best in the long run if they lose. This roster clearly needs some wholesale changes and one more embarrassment might just be enough to get them.

Losing teaches us more lessons than winning this pathetic Game 7 against the Habs. I'd like to win if it still guaranteed that we will make changes in the offseason because I've truly had enough of Marner in a Leafs jersey.

Winning Game 7 won't even feel good, it will just feel like they avoided being an embarrassment for once. For this season to feel any good they would actually have to get out of the division and beat that third round opponent which we know is never happening if they can't even get past Montreal easily.

I am just glad that this series isn't a back and forth and that we have choked a 3-1 lead. Losing tomorrow won't really illicit much of a reaction from me as I've come to expect it.

Price has been great but not sensational... I find that the leafs are scoring when playoff style shots are going at Price. High traffic, tips and scrambles. All the open lane shots are being saved or one timers where the play is predictable. Campbell has made some sensational saves too... that point blank Weber blast was over 100 - wasn't it?

Remember Montreal had a 2-0 and executed it perfectly. We had a 2-0 and our 22 million dollars in players didn't even get a shot off.

Leafs are beating themselves....we need guys to start playing playoff hockey instead of dips doodling along the boards and throwing spin o rama or behind the back passes to the front of the net. Or looking for the perfect pass.

Montreal is winning because all the high risk stuff... remember teams were taught to flip the puck out of the zone? Or make the safe play?... we got Galchenyuk throwing a blind pass across the opposing teams blueline in OT.. we have Dermott deciding to make a fancy 180 degree move within his own blue line in OT if game 6! ... jeez what the hell are they being coached?

Dude price has easily been the best goalie in the 1st round!

they don’t deserve to win tomorrow night i’ve been watching this team for about 40 years They need a dose of reality things need to change same old same old just don’t work no more how could you go five years ago to almost beating the Stanley Cup champion Boston to this tire fire

Allowing a couple of 20-something year-olds (and their agents) to run roughshod over management, essentially dictating how the salary structure, coaching, lines, and playstyle of the team will be is probably at the root of it, I would think...

This is why strong GM's are a necessity in pro sports, so the whims of a few selfish players don't completely tank a franchise's hopes..

Completely agree I remember an interview with Kyle where he said contracts are a stressful time and we don’t want to do that to our players so he So he could be pushed around what a dumb statement to say he open the vault on himself

Price missed the last month of the season
The Habs have some interesting youth in Suzuki, Kotka, Caufield, not comparable to Marner, Matthews, Nylander of course.... but they can still cause playoff damage (as they have)
The Habs also kinda hobbled into the playoffs giving the impression they were easy pickings
But despite all that & the recent turn of events, I still think the Leafs will pull it off on Monday

Methinks you are right...look at Buffalo and the way Eichel wanted this guy signed and that guy traded..this coached fired...that one hired...he ran the show and now its a complete mess. He wants out after HE messed it up. You cannot let the inmates run the asylum..you just cannot do that and expect to win.

Precisely.

Dubas caved to each of Nylander/Matthews/Marner and now we as Leafs fans truly are going to find out where Nice Guys like him finish.

Nothing personal but all Im hearing is excuses....and more excuses. Yea but only if things went our way, if only we didnt have injuries, if only our guys didnt do stupid things and the stupidest time. In saying that if they win game 7 and go on to beat the jets, then, awesome, but nothing so far shows me that is going to happen.

You seem to have ignored this statement in my post "Anything can happen in sports but their chances of doing something special this season have been significantly diminished with their performance and injuries in the Habs series."

I have not said what is going to happen. The games decide that.

All I have said is "their chances of doing something special this season have been significantly diminished"

They are a weaker team without Muzzin, Tavares & Foligno not right. I realize they're saying Muzzin is a game time decision but that is fooling no one. Pretty rare to have someone pull up lame like that and they're 100% in two days or any time soon.

Hitting is up in the playoffs. Longer overtimes. It is a war of attrition. The more games played, the more a team is worn down.
Islanders Cup winning years playoff won-loss:
1980 15-6
1981 15-3
1982 15-4
1983 15-4
That was some of what Torrey was talking about. They also got opponents they could dominate (in part because of how good they were). The most games they had to play to win 15 games was 21 games. We don't see that too often anymore with the increased league parity.

Those are not excuses. The results are not decided. They're just facts. This series going to 7 games and injuring some key players has hurt the Leafs chances.

Love it. Gotta get some belief going on around here

Marner. Defensively responsible. L O L

Looking forward to game 7 tomorrow night - keep the faith - we gotta believe

It’s the Stanley cup playoffs - it’s not supposed to be easy.

This is why strong GM's are a necessity in pro sports, so the whims of a few selfish players don't completely tank a franchise's hopes..

Corporate ownership, pressure from sports media in the city who put players on pedestals and who believe that with that player they will have 3-4 deep runs by now, inexperience and pressure on a GM who put all his eggs in the basket and assumed the salary cap would increase and he could round up the lineup with the additional space.

The team has more pressure than ever to win one game. They should come out hard and physical as they did in game two. I doubt it will happen, but it will send a message early and hopefully carry them through.

After winning game two they said "we dedicate this one to Johnny (Tavares)". I thought to myself, "why don't you dedicate the entire series to him and play that way every game?"

They can win game seven and go on a deep run. It's all in their hands now. If not, many fans are just going to tune out, the franchise just had misstep after misstep, even when they are handed a Matthews.

anything can happen in the playoffs, they COULD win this game and release all the pressure from the last 5 yearss and just play the game their way the rest of the way...they probably wont, but they COULD. im reserving judgement on this team until after we are officially out of the playoffs.

lets go leafs!!!(hopefully not for the last time)

I agree but I’m hoping for the Leafs mainly because they’ve had such rotten luck in playoff history. Neither team really has a chance to beat the Jets.

I'll bet he hangs out with those guys and is just giddy that he actually is one of the boys. Win or lose he is a disgrace and an embarrassment to the franchise.

Watching the Colorado game tonight shown me what your top players are supposed to do. 9 points for their top line. They dominated the game. When's the last time Matthews or Marner did that?

I’ve been saying this since the end of the regular season. The Avs have been on a championship run tuneup and running teams out of the building while Leafs were talking load management and taking games 55 and 56 off.
