First post in the puppy thread (despite being asked to post in here a few times).
Ol' Mac may be slowing down. I can't quite say on his way out but he's changed over the last few weeks. Something is off with him. He's 12.5 so he's no spring chicken.
Earlier in the Summer he went through a shaking spell where he wouldn't eat and his entire body would be trembling. I took him to the vet immediately. Of course that jabroni mostly stopped by the time we were seen by the vet but I got some video of it. They looked him over and ran some tests along with trying to see if they could get him to show that type of behavior again. The only thing they could guess is that his hips are starting to "go" as he reacted in some type of way when they pushed.
They prescribed some gabapentin for that along with some of his general anxiety.
The shaking for the most part went away from then until about a week ago. Now he's doing it a large portion/majority of the time that i've been home over that time. Not saying that he doesn't do it when i'm not at home just in the sense that i've been able to observe it.
When he's let out into the yard he kind of wanders around aimlessly now when in the past he would do his business and come right back into the house. The other day? Stood in the back corner for ~10 minutes just staring. He's slow. Not as attentive.
His eating schedule has changed. He won't eat right as I put it out anymore but it'll get eaten as the day goes on so he's not completely avoiding food. Just not scarfing it down like he usually would.
Just feel a little helpless. First time with a dog reaching this stage in my life.
Plan update: our vet called the emergency vet and they're going to pay for it!! HugeThen today, we realized there are 4 staples left in Brutus. I saw the outline of them today and they're definitely staples when you press on them. That area of the incision was very much folded on itself since it's such thin skin (it was the only way to do it without the skin ripping), and now that we're like 2 months out, the incision is starting to flatten out and unfold which is pushing the staples to the surface. The problem is they're completely healed over. So this will also probably require general anesthesia and some sort of incision to dig them out. Fiance is taking him to the vet this afternoon for a plan.

To be clear, this is just a little unlucky. The emergency vet did a great job. This kind of stuff will happen sometimes
