Speculation: The price to move the 3rd overall to the Islanders ?

Or you can do what the NBA has done for years....pick the players and then trade them and they can swap hats, jersey/name plates right on the draft floor.
it's so funny to me that there's this unspoken rule that after a pick is made they can't be traded on draft day

like your guy gets taken 2 spots before your pick... and then you just give up? Pick up the damn phone!

We’re not overloaded anywhere on our roster. Vlassic is the only one proven to handle regular top 4/top pairing minutes at the NHL level. The rest of those guys are either not established yet or haven’t proven consistency as a pro. Certainly not to the degree I’d balk at drafting a LD 1st OVR.

Our rebuild is looking good, lots of momentum carrying into next year, but we still SUCK. There’s a long way to go and we need elite talent anywhere and everywhere on the roster.
my point is you could draft Martone or frondell and then use those 1sts to trade for a top 6 wing/center that is younger with some term.

Why limit it to the Islanders? If they want Hagens this much, they should just pick him.

All that I would be interested in is their 26 1st round pick unprotected.
I would add to get Calum Ritchie.

I don't see the Isles as potential team to trade for that pick.

I don’t get the point of talking about trading in the top three. It is going to cost either players or draft picks and really does not make sense.

If the Islanders are willing to trade number one, then they are picking Hagens. SJ need defense and Schaefer is the best player overall. Basically, the Hawks will get the best forward of the draft (in their eyes).

If the Islanders are willing to trade doesn't mean they are taking Hagens 1.

Just that you could give them an offer they think... that offer + Haggens is better than simply taking Schaefer.

I don't think Barzal at 28 is a timeline fit. It's one thing to sign a 28 year old Marner UFA but it's another thing to trade away 10-15 years of player control for a guy likely to be on the decline when we're contending. Tkachuk is likely not available. EP40 I want absolutely nowhere near this team. Terrible attitude and is way too expensive.
oh dont get me wrong Barzal for Toronto pick and Florida 1st would be fine with me..just not #3 ova. He is a veteran in prime but the #3 ova pick should be reserved for someone like in yrs 22-25 range not 28 soon to be 29
