I'm glad we moved to 2OA for sure but it's not like we've won the Cup and I'm not sure what the Devils are going to do but if they take Kakko we're almost certainly taking Hughes and vice versa. That's a very very good position for us to be in. Hopefully Tampa and Dallas come through for us--either of those things happening could potentially help move us into another top 10 pick.

This is a circumstance that should accelerate our rebuild and if we're getting Hughes I'm not likely moving Kreider because both Z-bad and Hughes are going to need wingers who have something of a clue about putting pucks in the net. As far as I know Hughes hasn't opted to an NCAA team and it's likely he's figuring on stepping into the NHL. Kakko will likely do it too.

I don't think I'd be disappointed with either.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I was thinking. Hughes more likely to be better long term but may need to develop a bit more.

More mature now and for the next several years. I would expect his numbers to be higher out of the gate.

Where will they be in 5 years? That’s the question. Personally my money is on Hughes. But we’ll see.
