GDT: The Powerhouse at the Island | 01/12/19 - 1PM - MSG

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

Almost every single time ownership of a sports franchise wants an arena built, no matter how much opposition, it usually gets built and the taxpayer gets stuck with, at the very least, a portion of the bill.

Even If it DOES get built it will fail. Belmont is too close to the NYC line that Long Islanders are afraid of and won't go near; going to "the city" is equivalent to going to Mars. I foresee an EPIC FAIL incoming.

Eh. It's not too much further west than NVMC.

I don't think Islanders fans who live out in Nassau or Suffolk will mind it. It's also going to be right off a highway, so not terribly difficult to get to.

I moved to Inwood (Manhattan) a few years ago and I swear, to the people I grew up with on LI, I may as well live in another dimension.

I grew up there for a good chunk of my youth. It really is like it's own world, own country. Queens is about the furthest "NYC" I can see them in. Manhattan/Bronx/BK/SI it's like if Luke Skywalker or Chewbacca showed up on the Enterprise.
