Rebuild looking pretty good so far.

Buffalo should have been good if it wasn't for a complete lack of patience.

Look at what that core could have been:
J.Eichel
S.Reinhart
T.Thompson
R.Dahlin
E.Rodriguez
O.Powers
L.Ullmark

1G - Askarov
1C - Celebrini
2C - Smith
1D - Dickinson(?)

They already seem to have most of the difficult pieces to acquire; just need a few more quality defensemen and for their top wing prospects to pan out. Matthew Schaefer would be an ideal get for them at the draft.
Having Dickinson fall all the way into their lap at #11 was always criminal to me.

He was always the best D IMO and should have been drafted in the top 5

I was saying they should try to trade up to 4th OA to get Dickinson. I was overjoyed when he wasn't picked and absolutely confused as to why.

I know nothing about him, but Jake Furlong was on Team USA for the WHJC-U20 last year, so I'm guessing he should be on that list.

But yeah, definately the Sharks have some good building blocks for the future.

This is the most pedantic and pointless contribution that could be made to this thread, but Furlong played for Canada.

He's probably a depth D/bottom pairing guy at best though, so I'm also fine with him not being lumped into the prospect core. Canada always likes to take a few role player types into the WJCs, so it's not an automatic badge of authenticity as a key prospect to be named to a team in a supporting role.

Celebrini with Michkov would have been a nice duo. Missed opportunity by the Sharks.

Loaded with young talent at every position. Still a long way to go but they just have an "it" factor that the other rebuilding teams don't. If i had to bet on who the next multi cup winner a la Chicago/Pittsburgh/Tampa would be among the rebuilding teams I'd put my money on them. He took a lot of flack but Grier is doing an excellent job.
