In addition to the Blues playing well, any realistic chance to sneak into the playoffs will need a few regulation losses from Vancouver. There is a lot of ground to close. We need something like 3 wins and 3 regulation losses from them in the same stretch to catch up.

23 games left. Probably have to go something 16-7 imo. 92 pts

Blues only have 22 games left, but I think you are in the ballpark that they need to go 16-6 at a minimum to get in. If you took each of the 4 teams fighting for that last spot and simply extrapolated out their season Points Percentage, it would finish:
CGY - 91
VAN - 90
UTAH - 86
STL - 85

Again, that only assumes they play at their existing points percentage the rest of the season. While it's close, over the last 10 games, the Utes have gotten 13 points, Blues 12, VAN 11, CGY 9. Wonder which teams can go on a heater and lock up a spot. That last WC will be a bit lower this season IMHO, maybe 90 points. To be safe though, the Blues need to go the points equivalent of 16-6 or 15-6-1 to even have a shot. My guess is that VAN catches lightning in a bottle and takes that last spot.

I have tickets to the Vancouver game on the 20th that I was 'meh' on just a couple weeks ago but now I'm really hoping we are still in a position for one of the WC's. The boy is going on 8 now and hasn't really experienced anything close to a playoff hockey atmosphere. Apologies to the all in tankers if that's perceived as selfish, but the kid loves the Blues. Getting to see and share in his excitement supersedes the marginal difference of 4-7 spots in the draft that has nothing close to a generational talent we could lotto into.

Why do I get the feeling that as soon as they start getting our hopes up, they’ll lay an egg? Playing LA on a B2B and 3 in 4, should be a major advantage for a hungry team fighting for the playoffs.

team has looked 10x better since the break. im the first to question them, but they are playing great hockey atm

Might have to change the name of this thread soon.

As soon as I do, we’ll start losing again. Never fails.

You changed it lolol. You're a mad lad. Absolutely mad HAHAHAHAHA

lol the Counter Ju-Ju Failed…understand the draft high arguments but hard not to root for the playoffs miss the great hockey to much.

Even if they weren’t consistent, if we had been playing teams the way we’ve been since the Colorado game post 4 nations I would never have been vocal about the “lets get a draft pick” side of things. Even if the points were the same. But before when we won games it often just felt like it was our night for the lucky bounces versus the opposition, sometimes maybe we felt goalies saved us, or completed failed us - it shouldn’t come to this every game. When luck went against us, especially for early weak goals, it felt like we often lost games before the 1st period was over.

It’s nuts but we literally looked like a worst team in the league quite a few different times and now it’s so extremely opposite - they look invincible.

The kings had no chance at winning yesterday. There isn’t enough puck luck to beat us when we’re like this. We will grind down teams and enough goals will be manufactured to give us a chance every game.

And we have Snuggerud and Dvorsky as black aces. We’re gonna flip from seller to gigantic problem for everybody else.

The league messed up when they let binnington taste meaningful hockey.

Calgary has a brutal March schedule after having one of the easier SOS the first 50+ games and Vancouver continues to be a mess. I said I liked our roster on paper better than the teams we were chasing before we fizzled out after the two Calgary wins and I stand by that.
Vancouver in trouble. Hughes is hurt, EP40 is either injured or checked out, Demko hurt, team is reeling. Calgary is nothing special. Utah I think will be our chief competitor for playoff spot.

I doubt we are sellers now. Will Army be a buyer? What do we need to updrade? 2c / 3C? I don’t feel confident with Sunny as 3C, but can Army acquire a 3C and put Sunny on the bench?

Leddy and Faulk are looking like their old selves and suddenly the blueline looks Cup-caliber. Parayko has been a legit 1D this year. Fowler is playing like the top pair guy he's been for most of his career. Broberg and Faulk are playing like damn good 2nd pair guys. Suter and Leddy are both playing like #4/5 caliber D. All 6 guys are capable of giving you 18+ good minutes on any given night and there really isn't a weak point to target.

For the first time since COVID, we have a blueline that can genuinely control a game defensively. This looks like a team that can dig out of the very deep hole they dug themselves before the blueline fully actualized. I understand the games in hand, but they have gotten themselves right back into the thick of the playoff race and 2 of the 3 other teams appear to be in (or approaching) free fall.

we will see. they have a very long and tough road trip right now. LA is the best team in the league at home and they play them twice. Dallas is always a tough game and Minnesota will not be a push over. I could see them going 2-4 on this trip and losing ground.

Add Parayko to that list. He realized he belongs with the best of the best and has come back from 4 Nations playing like an elite d-man.
