TB to the PP with 2 minutes to go. 6-on-4 with the goalie pulled.

Utah hits the post on the empty net. Bad omen?

Edit: No. 6-4 Utah. The East is doing nothing to help the Blues this week.

11 games left. I think we’ll need to go 8-3 to clinch and finish 44-31-7 for 95 points
I think the next 4 games for both us and Calgary will determine this race. We have NSH, MTL, NSH, COL while they have SEA, DAL, EDM, COL

If we can pull out 5-6 points by going 2-1-1 or 3-1, then I think Calgary is in trouble. While they have won 3 in a row, they have some tough ones in those last 3. Hoping they go 1-3 and we go 3-1 and runaway with this thing in the next week.

5 teams were in action today. Everyone won but Vancouver. The points tiebreaker is RW first, then ROW.

The Blues are the only team in action tomorrow.

I'm hearing Petterson and Hoglander both left today's game and didn't play the third period. Quinn Hughes is also playing with some minor injury. It will be interesting to see who plays on Monday against NJ.

Calgary won't play their two games in hand until the final week when Blues play once and Flames play three times.

They finish at LA. Tough game for them.

Even though the Blues won all of their games this past week it still feels slightly disappointing. This week had the opportunity for us to fully secure a spot. We had easy opponents and the teams chasing us had hard opponents. But Calgary secured a lot of points.

A lot has been said about how easy our schedule is compared to the other wild card teams, but that was heavily weighted by this prior week. That was really the only week where there is a big disparity in opponents faced. The Blues no longer have the easiest schedule remaining. We have the 18th hardest now. Calgary and Utah have the 16th and 17th hardest. Our strength of schedule is no longer a meaningful aspect of this playoff race. Calgary, and to a lesser extent Vancouver and Utah, did exactly what they needed to do and weathered the storm of hard opponents.

If LA has their fate secured, will they match the intensity of a team fighting for their playoff lives? Doubtful

“Fully secure a spot”?

They could have moved ahead by a point maybe. But lose a couple you shouldn’t lose and they’d be behind again. It’s going to be a race until the end. There is also some danger of counting on Calgary to lose in that last week since hypothetically LAK could be resting guys at the end.

Disappointing? Umm…they’ve 5 in a row and even the choke against Vancouver feels slightly less significant considering they stink and it’s most likely us vs. CGY at this point. Control what you can control as they say. Credit to CGY for making us earn it w two huge comebacks. Sucks but what can you do. I’d still take our schedule down the stretch any day vs theirs.

We had the opportunity to all but fully secure a spot this past week, yes. That does not mean it was necessarily extremely likely. However, if the teams with the better records won their games last week the Blues could have had as high of a cushion as 8 points. Now that would be the best case scenario, but the point is Calgary, Utah, and Vancouver all secured more points than they were projected to.

I'm not saying I am disappointed in the Blues lol. As you said, 5 in a row is very good. However, also as you said it does suck that Calgary has continued to win, thus it has been a slightly disappointing outcome considering where we expected our opponents to be in the standings at the end of this week.

Fair enough. Yes, CGY randomly finding their dormant offense at the wrong time for us was unfortunate.

No, they really didn’t from a realistic standpoint.

I frankly don’t understand what you’re complaining about. Like yeah, Calgary, Vancouver and Utah “secured more points than they were projected to” because they are fighting for their playoff lives. If you’re just expecting those teams to roll over and quit and hand the Blues their playoff spot, then that’s on you for being disappointed based on weird expectations. It’s not supposed to be that easy.

We came into this week chasing multiple teams and now we finished the week ahead of them. Currently only Calgary could catch us with their games in hand. Vancouver and Utah would still be behind us even if they win all their games in hand. This isn’t disappointing at all, the Blues are in a very good spot because things aren’t going to go perfectly, but they’re getting the job done pretty darn well right now. Calgary still has plenty of tough games left, the Blues are close to controlling our own destiny where going 8-3 in these final 11 very likely gets us in.

I'm keeping an eye on Minnesota as well. They've rattled off three wins in a row but they are dealing with alot of injuries
