They should officially retire it then. I never understood their reluctance to do that. 32, 75, 58. 59. 47, etc.
32 and 75 are retired, but I'm not sure why they don't do a few more. I guess eventually you could run into an issue with not having enough numbers and have to un-retire numbers which would really be a slap in the face

The time to break this tradition of not giving out these unofficially retired numbers is not now, though. Not for a 42-year-old twat like Rodgers who will (hopefully) only be here for 1 year.

I don't think they will either, I just had to say something because somebody (edit: oh it was you ) posted that AI generated picture with him in a Steelers #12.

Ehh better than what we had but he’s pretty much replacement level at best.

Exactly how I feel.

AR is probably a smidge better than MR. This doesn't move the needle at all, but man it comes with all the drama I've been craving that will hopefully force an enema of this franchise

tomlin and by extension rooney really believe that if they just have a QB that can execute the tomlin/smith playbook than they have a chance in the "tournament" -- execution and some luck ... thats their motto. This is based on two false beliefs -- that execution is all that matters on O (plays called is irrelevant) and that their D is high quality.

We are about to find out the validity of that -- and I believe it ill be proven wrong finally

Rodgers had pretty good counting stats last year (top 10 in yards and TD's) but the underlying analytics had him among with worst 17 game starters in the league last year. Just extremely inefficient from an EPA, accuracy, and yards per attempt standpoint, something he had been elite at for his whole career.

Agreed with others that he was still easily the best QB available, but probably doesn't move the needle much. I still think the major limiting factor is our brutal second half schedule, unfortunate bye week and rest disadvantage. 9-8.

If you're willing to entertain the notion that women might file false claims of sexual harassment/assault against famous men as a money grab but not entertain the notion that there might be loads of actual sexual assaults that have never been reported out of fear of any number of possible outcomes, not the least of which is that DAs won't bring charges, then you can't be taken seriously on this topic.

Show me where I stated that was my position?

My focus has been on these 2 allegations against Ben. And those allegations are paperthin because of...for the zillionth time NO HARD EVIDENCE. The rape kit performed in GA was inconclusive due to lack of genetic material. I also find it disturbing that because of these allegations (that have proven to have no merit), someone believes Ben has committed hundreds of other SA's. It's hyperbolic at best and exhibits lack of critical thinking at worst.

But back to this- it's sad (not strong enough of a word) that SA's are committed. The true victims have to overcome a ton of hurdles: police, stigma, DA's, the list goes on in order to achieve justice. Even if they "win" they are still scarred for life. A horrible burden to carry for something you didn't do or ask for.

The Jussie Smollet's of this world deserve the harshest repercussions because they diminish the pain of actual victims.

In short, I know women extort athletes for things they didn't do. I also know that athletes commit crimes they get away with. I'm not onboard with continuing a false narrative that isn't supported by evidence/facts. I would assume most people take the same approach, but when you repeat a lie enough people start to believe it.

You can never count out a great defense. The Pickens trade really soured my outlook of this season, right now I’m jaded but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Just silly, imo.

Why? It's the last data point we have on him. Plus this is likely the AR you'll see bc of his Achilles injury- that can't be discounted.

I'll argue we'll see the NYJ version of AR this coming season vs the prior one in GB. Dude is cooked and he played on a team with some really good offensive weapons, albeit with a poor line.

The good news is he'll be behind a slightly better Oline, but the bad news is he'll have worse weapons.
Does that even out? Idk, but I don't expect Rodgers to play all the games due to a) injury or b) poor performance

Here's the kicker- we don't have a great defense. It's really good, but great defenses don't give up a gazillion points in their last 8 (or whatever #) playoff appearances. They are a paper tiger who have a couple outstanding individual performers.

You already pointed it out, the trenches. Offense starts first a foremost in the trenches. The Jets O-line was bottom half of the league last season (largely due to injuries, but the point stands). This is especially important when you have a QB that's not as mobile. Even under pressure, Rodgers had a better TD:Int ratio than MR (granted, it was the Titans). The Steelers O-line is an upgrade, he just needs a slot receiver now (unless you really think CAIII can step up that much over last year).

Edit: Isn't Amari Cooper still available? Not sure why the Steelers haven't jumped on that.
