This may be one of the most physically gifted draft classes I have ever seen -

Abdul Carter is 6'3, probably will be 250-260 at the combine, but can play heavier. He's going to run a 4.4. If this guy sounds cool...there's actually another one in Mykel Williams in this draft with the same measurables. LOL.

Nick Emmanwori 6'3 227 SAFETY that runs a 4.3.

Kenneth Grant is a f***ing NOSE TACKLE at 6'3 345 pounds and runs a sub-5.0 40.

Landon Jackson is a DE/EDGE - 6'8, 280, 4.68 40. This dude is like 15 pounds away from being a 5-tech. 4.6.

Shemar Stewart is a 6'6 290 pound DL/EDGE that is 6'6 290 and runs a 4.6. He's a legit 5-tech.

I'm starting to believe the future of the 3-4 defense is going to be these insanely big/fast/talented 5-techs. OLBs will still rush, but you're going ot want them to cover more. Have two MLBs that just play down hill.

The Steelers need to bring in culture. They need to bring in big personalities who can start to take control of this thing and direct it where it needs to go.

Their need for a WR is significantly more pressing that a heir to Seumalo IMO. You can also get good G prospects with 2nd or 3rd rounders, using a 1st on one is a reach unless it's a truly great G.

I also think re-signing Moore and making Jones a swing tackle is exactly what they should be doing. It's being "patient" by keeping Jones and not using more picks to replace Jones, but it's also spending money and improving the team today.
I think we have our Seumalo in house with Broderick Jones...and he will probably go to about a dozen Pro Bowls as a G. If they have a tackle fall to them, they can take them and the line long term would be Fautanu/Draft-Jones-Frazier-McCormick-Fautanu/Draft.

There was a belief that Jones was not going to develop into a tackle at the next level. Only a few in the scouting world voiced that loudly, but it was there. If Jones moves to LG, I think he's an instant Pro Bowler.

Jones should have never been played at RT because of Dan f***ing Moore… but Tomlin gonna Tomlin..

Moore has now easily graded out as the worst pass blocking LT in the league over the last two seasons - makes total sense why he’s the starter!

This is the Tomlin brainworm in action again.

Wasted two years of development playing a guy out of place… a guy who was already raw, who said he’s not comfortable on the right side.

Most guys are not swing tackles - because even pro bowl tackles have said again and again it’s extremely difficult to play on a side where your dominant hand and pivot foot are now completely opposite.

Josh Sitton, said switching from one side to the other is “like wiping your ass with the other hand.”

Tomlin’s brainworm should have known better after the Dotson fiasco:

But it’s completely on brand for Tomlin not to learn his lesson, move up in the draft for a guy, and play him out of position for one of the worst LTs in the league.

While I 1000% agree with what you're saying, Jones claim to fame was he was fluent on both sides of the line. He is not by my estimation. They are also going to f*** this because though Fautanu played RT in college...he's a LT. He needs to play on the left side or he should be kicked into G.

Jones is a specimen of a player. I'd like for him to work out at LT because I think he can be dominant. At worst, he's a Pro Bowl G. I think Dan Moore Jr. is an above the line starting G. The offensive line development in this organization has been atrocious since Munchak left. Even Pouncey and DeCastro kind of went to shit after Munchak left. They definitely weren't as dominant as they were earlier in their careers.

I believe in the front office's ability to draft. I think the last two drafts have basically been perfect, and they are panning out well. I don't have the belief that the coaching staff can develop anything because they haven't. Think about this - Kenny failed. Najee failed. Pickens failed. Dotson failed. They haven't been able to develop Leal. Porter has regressed. Minkah has regressed. Broderick Jones is struggling. I have never been here with this team.

They need new blood - they need a new voice, both coaching and locker room heads. None of it works. These are 3 great drafts to start over. Like I said above, the line if you start just kicking guys where they probably fit best, this OL is stud level.

Don’t forget early on before his injury, they were swapping Fautanu and Jones out at RT… a move even Jones called out as ridiculous.

Hey let’s move you from your natural position even though you said you aren’t comfortable on the right side, and make you swap out every series to make it even more mind numbingly dumb!

This is how f***ing stupid Tomlin is - risking f***ing up the development of his two prized first round tackles for - the worst starting LT in the league.

What could go wrong - besides ending the season with the worst tackle combo in the league.

Another Tomlin debacle where he thinks he knows better than everyone else.

If you told this to a casual fan of the game, they would think you were making it up, because a professional coach can’t be this dumb.

But here we are.

The only position he develops well is WR, and even that comes with a massive poison pill because he allows their egos to get out of control… every single time.

Fautanu looked good no matter where he played. So that's good.

I thought he looked really good at RT, which begs the question why he was oddly being rotated with Jones?

Why wasn’t Fautanu the full time starter at RT and slide Jones to LT, and make the guy who graded out in 2023 as the second worst pass blocker, the backup?

Keeping Moore as the starting LT ended in him being the worst LT in the league - by far - and Jones kept floundering at a position he keeps trying to tell us he struggles with.

But hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Who would ever expect the second worst pass blocking LT in 2023 to give up the most sacks in 2024?

You would need a magic 8 ball or some shit to see that coming, right?

Jones starting on the right side didn’t bother me because higher pedigree LT in college started out at Rt. We started Starks at Rt for years and both OT get paid in free agency. Tristan Warf is a pro bowl LT and RT in Tampa. Jones problem is want to and finish that doesn’t get fixed flipping to Lt. that’s fixed by individual growth and development. That’s fixed by working on your with Dukes and other top flight o line trainers that help people get ready for the draft.

Jones settled in at rt after the bye and gave up just 3 sacks. Jones will need someone to push him Foster said he reminds him of Gilbert and Pouncey had to stay on gilbert in the locker room and in the film room

Jones was working on both sides in pre season and at camp he was struggling in part because of injury and was still the guy with the least college starts of Troy Moore and himself so he needed reps. He lost his job against the broncos

It was well known Jones wasn’t a road grader with a mean streak, he was a physical freak that played with finesse.

So expecting him to be something he never was is misguided.

We can go back and forth on why this and why that, but at the end of the day Tomlin f***ed up - again.

Straight fact that can’t even be argued.

He had a #1 pick drafted to play LT, and has completely wasted two years of Jones’ development.

The trade off for f***ing with Jones..

Literally having statistically the worst LT in the league the last two years in Moore.

That’s sound decision making?

Moore let up 18.5 sacks and the most pressures of any LT in the league combined in 23-24.

No LT comes close to any of those ridiculous, god awful numbers.

Now Jones has little experience at LT, and Moore is going to walk because HE BLOWS at LT.

Its even more mind numbing that Tomlin pulled this kind of stupidity after being made to look like a fool by the Rams stealing Dotson and moving him to his natural side.

He… never… f***ing… learns.

Part of the problem is Khan said that Jones was drafted to be the LT of the future Tomlin said that wasn’t guaranteed
The Dotson thing is hilarious because the Rams simplified his assignment and changed the blocking scheme from a zone to a duo scheme. He still struggles in pass blocking but just tell him block that guy don’t worry about getting the 2nd level like we ask our iol guys to do. Daniels was better at RG and younger than Dotson.
McCormick played LG in college but was ok at RG as a rookie. Anderson plays 4 positions on o line

My memory of the situation is that both Jones and Fautanu were pretty much straight LTs in college. Jones was a raw LT with freak athleticism, Fautanu a LT who didn't have prototypical height but everything else (also playing with Penix had people going 'but he wasn't protecting the blindside')

Part of the problem is Khan said that Jones was drafted to be the LT of the future Tomlin said that wasn’t guaranteed

So Khan moved up in the draft with the intention of getting a premium position player, a LT.

Tomlin in all his wisdom decided it would be better for the team to play the worst LT in the league instead the last two years.

You draft a raw freak of nature to play LT and your genius coach decides to play him 1873 snaps at RT and 129 at LT the last two years.

Now two years later Jones has almost zero experience at LT and you just trotted out the worst LT in the league two years in a row.

In a couple months Moore is leaving because you let really bad players walk.

Khan is banging his head agt a wall because he still has no solution at LT yet… two years wasted and a mystery 1st rounder you have no clue about how he can handle LT.

Do you see how this is a problem?

As for Dotson, he straight up said him moving back to his natural position again was a game changer and the reason for his success with the Rams.

Spin how ever you want but Tomlin shit the bed with Dotson and is literally so f***ing stupid and arrogant he’s doing the exact same thing again with Jones.

No trade clause

People keep bringing this up like it's a complete dead end to the possibility and not like we haven't seen tons of athletes with NTCs move on when the team makes it clear they don't really want that guy around any more. There's no guarantee that the team can talk or force Tomlin out, but it's at least worth the try.

7 consecutive AFC Championship games. That's insane.

I don't get the same feelings from the Chiefs as I did with the Patriots. It's probably because the Steelers really haven't been a contender in any of the recent big games against them but it also could be because I don't feel the KC organization is full of pompous snob asses.
It is, as is - out of the blue these last several years - its fan base.
