It’s a fourth rounder so whatever I guess, but I don’t love the Sawyer pick. Depth edge guy who I’m not sure ever really gives you much pass rush juice in the NFL.

If you could fuse him and Herbig together you’d have a stud.

Is it wrong to call him a run stuffing OLB? From the write ups and the few highlights I've seen, doesn't seem to have the athleticism to really get after the QB in the NFL. Could be the Wilson/Roberts platoon we saw last year with Herbig, just on the outside instead.

He’s great against the run and can get after the QB. He wrecked havoc against Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame in the playoffs.

Not wrong. Not going to be a big sack guy. And too big to be what I would consider a linebacker. Like he's not a TJ Watt/Alex Highsmith athlete per se. He's a d-end that is incredible against the run.

This team has such issues with run defense that I don't mind drafting a primarily run stopper OLB. It does fill a need even if OLB is a luxury.

The Sanders situation is going to dominate discussion for months. I don't think I've ever seen a player go from mocked top ten to potentially undrafted within a week in any sport without some other criminal issue. And yeah, there's a disparity between media opinions and his worth with teams, but this is all his and his dad's personality driving this, it's absolutely remarkable. Guy's career went from "he could be a Tua or Bridgewater type starter" to "this guy might never play another meaningful game ever again."

The Sanders thing is something personel with him and NFL teams. I have never seen a guy turn teams off like this, or maybe have a guy hyped so much that it's actually confirmation bias that he's actually good.

I am wondering if they move Sawyer inside next to TJ. He also makes sense to take over for Highsmith. Sawyer needs to drop about 20 pounds or gain 30 and be an end.

They ranked 6th in the NFL in run defense in 2024.

Yeah outside of the Ravens games, the run game struggles are bit overblown I think. And that very much seemed to be a result of dumb defensive game planning.

I dunno. Again fourth round pick so no big deal. I just feel like there’s kind of limited upside here at a position that’s not all that needed.

They gave up 300 rushing yards to the Ravens in the playoffs.
They did, but the idea that they had a bad run defense because of one game isn't accurate. I mean, I'm fine with the pick and could see a platoon of him and Herbig on run/pass downs when giving the top guys a blow, but the perception the Steelers can't stop the run is putting way too much weight on one game.

I think that the Steelers go QB here.

It just may not be Sanders.

Is there even a team who needs a QB left between when the Steelers pick in the fifth round and now?

I saw someone calling it a humiliation ritual. He blew off the spring draft events, went into meetings with major attitude, and the NFL is punishing him for it. And he apparently never got an agent who could guide him through the process or try to make calls now. His dad turned him into a prick, he followed his dad's guidance, and now he's out.

Now you have people like Florio suggesting he challenge NCAA rules to return to college.

This seems like a dumb decision by the Browns more than anything. You passed up on him with this many picks, took another QB ahead of him and just decided to take him now in the 5th? What? What was the point of taking Gabriel in round 3 if you were going to take Sanders later?

Cleveland is having a kind of a bizarre draft. I thought the trade out of two was actually good but everything else has been really weird.
