OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

You can take Sanders out of the equation entirely and my question is still being asked.

They need a developmental QB this year that could possibly develop into a starter. They have literally no one in the system and they can't just rely on hoping they can get a guy in 2026.
Every Qb left is a backup Qb.
Howard is a mobile Mason
Milroe is gone

I'm hoping Sanders slides to day 3 for the laughs, but I do think the Raiders use one of those 3rds they picked up from trading down to take him.

I'm betting on McCord for the Steelers 4th round pick.
McCord is one of the worst available QB choices. He had to transfer out of a stacked Ohio State team because he was so bad. Hell, choose the guy that replaced him and won the championship w/ MVP, Will Howard.

Again, for the millionth time you've posted this in response to me, they need to take someone that could potentially develop into that. Not drafting anyone guarantees you won't get a starter. Drafting someone at least gives you a chance, even if it's slim.

Welp so much for that. Just wait until like the 5th or 6th and take whichever QB is leftover. McCord in the 4th would be a bit of a buzz kill with how this draft is going so far.
I think McCord is a better QB than Sanders.

McCord transferring is completely irrelevant, he had a good year with Syracuse and has the best arm talent of any QB left at this point. He's completely immobile but he has the best arm of guys still available.

Even if it's not Sanders, they need to take either Milroe or McCord with a day 3 pick, just to have a guy with the tools to potentially develop into something.
If they need that (they don't) then they need to make a trade. Because there's likely no one available to draft who will become better than even Rudolph. Maybe Howard could.

Honestly, it does feel like a bit of collusion here. Teams don't want that arrogance and that drama.
There probably is some of that causing such a fall, but his stock was artificially elevated to begin with.

He has no elite potential physical traits, he's not tall, has a mediocre arm, is not a threat in the running game.

He's accurate, and yet doesn't throw guys open, and played in a unique offense that is not a guarantee to translate to the NFL.

To me, there's plenty of football reasons why he's not worth drafting highly, before ever getting to the ego or family aspect of it, though I don't disagree that's likely a decent part of it.

I was going to note that my only major issue with Howard is his age, but I didn't realize he's only a year older than McCord and only 7 months older than Sanders. For some reason, I thought he was older than that.

McCord transferring is not irrelevant, he transferred because Day told him he wouldn't be the starting QB... because he couldn't succeed on a team with one of the best WR cores (Harrison Jr., Egbuka, Tate, etc).

That's a very fair way to look at it, I agree.
