OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

He doesn’t fumble and has quickness but not great speed. He’s a good counter to Warren. Happy with the pick.

Looks like QB in round 4? They still need 2 of them.

So you don't actually have any solutions for addressing the QB situation then? Just endlessly kicking the can down the road because "who cares, we already wasted the careers of TJ and Heyward" is absolutely horrendous logic for building a team.

I wrote a lot of words in that comment, clearly, my opinion is more nuanced than a simple justification like your strawman reduced it to.

And clearly, so far, the one's paid to make these decisions, agree with me, and not those of you repeatedly surprised that the QB's keep dropping.

But go off some more like the genius you purport yourself to be, you've been spot on so far. :thumbu:

He does not. But he has better vision, though it's not great.

He's honestly a lot like Warren minus the pass protection skil.
Yeah but you never know how these guys look until they’re actually in pads on Sundays

I can see his long speed is meh but i am more wondering if he’s gonna be more explosive than Najee and therefore break more 10 and 20 yarders

No one wants to deal with a Mason Rudolph level talent with a deluded dad that has actual cache.

I would only want Sanders in the 4D chess way of Deion blowing up on Tomlin and undermining some of his credibility.

Edit: the context I used that word is "cachet'
And that's probably selling Rudolph short, who showed better accuracy in college.

Iirc Najee’s longest run in college was like 40ish yard. Johnson has multiple 50+ yard plays.

He didn’t run a great 40 but I think people are seriously underselling some of his big play abilities.

No, what I said is pretty much exactly what you said. It's kicking the can endlessly down the road without any actual names to address the problem, and saying "who cares, we wasted our core anyway" to justify it.

I think the Jets are looking for a new GM.

There's the RB, so far, Kahn and Weidl agree with me regarding the QB's.

Does Johnson here have some speed at least? No more plodding slow Najee's anymore please.
He doesn’t have speed, like Najee…better options were gone unfortunately

I mean the way things are going, they’ll be able to take Sanders or Milroe in round 4 if they want.

Legit thrilled with how this draft is going actually. Johnson would have been one of the guys I was hoping for when they had their second.

I mean iirc you can count the amount of guys breaking more 20 yarders than Najee on one hand. He wasn't a home run hitter but he chewed off big gains as much as about anyone.

Honestly, I suspect the thing he needs to do better than Najee to be better than Najee is not get stuffed at the line as much. A lot of people blamed Harris' vision - well, if this kid has shades of Bell, he should make it happen.

Honestly I still think Sanders could be available for them at #123

I think it's entirely reasonable to suggest that the Steelers are thinking that they'll get at least a QB they like in either the 4th or 5th, so there wasn't any reason to rush to take Sanders now. Who would even take him before their 4th? And even if he goes, you can still likely have a choice of at least one of McCord, Milroe or Howard in round 4.

Yeah I don't think Harris' issue was a lack of top end speed as much as it was a lack of vision and an inability to identify open running lanes. If Johnson is better at that, his lack of top end speed won't matter and he'll be a really effective NFL RB.

I would prefer a back with more home run potential as my lead back, but others have pointed out before a fair argument that Bell (and we'd be lucky if this guy turned out even close to him) never had breakaway speed, but his vision was great, which allowed for elite consistency.

If this guy can at least see and hit holes at a more consistent rate than Najee did, I'm ok with the pick, especially if Warren is still featured enough for his speed to still be a consistent enough threat in the run game.
