OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: No 3peat for the Swifts

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Don't think you can lay this entirely on 1 person's feet. Colbert was driving the bus but Tomlin had his hand on the wheel influencing (ie Devin Bush). Plus, this goes back to my development commentary. Not many people on the list that Tomlin has developed in the past 10 years. But I can surely list a ton of guys that cratered after a good rookie season. That's a major problem that is being overlooked.

And yet after 6 starts under Tomlin someone paid JF 30 million guaranteed
 
My assessment of Khan is that he refuses to overpay except in very rare instances.

It is how he ended up with the WR situation last year.

And the QB situation this year.

With that in mind, with the bunch of options remaining, all with questions, is it the worst thing at this point to sign whoever remains to a reasonable contract?

Especially given that Tomlin will never open up this offense because he remains the smartest person in the room playing 3D chess while the rest of the league is playing Candyland?

I’d say the DK signing shows you attract players by offering them generation transcending money.

DK knows he’s not winning in Pitt.

I’m not going to cry about this, but it just shows those in charge refuse to rebuild. I had some small hope the team would go all in on building elite lines the next couple of years. Oh, well. The Tomlin-Art Amtrak Express keeps crawling down the tracks while bullet trains zoom past.

I wasn’t suggesting they draft Mahomes - I meant by the spring of 2020 they would have seen how insanely well the move paid off for KC.

Then been inspired to go up for Herbert in 2020.

Think about it - they could have given their 2020, 2021 and 2022 firsts to move up and been way better off when you consider how little impact those picks eventually had.

But ya there is the elephant in the room had they stayed put and taken Hurts or Love, Tomlin would have f***ed them up.

That’s a separate discussion though - I’m just trying to show how the Steelers 100% are responsible for their current predicament at QB.

He was benched by Tomlin which hurt his value - please.

Fields got that deal because he was a recent high pick and has great athletic ability.

Tomlin had zilch to do with it.

4 out of 5 of their R1 or R2 picks have been spent on the lines since Khan took over. And it's highly likely they use the 1st this year on a DL.

I don’t see why Minshew isn’t an option.

He has plenty of starting experience and will come cheap.

It’s not like this team is winning anything so why overpay for a complete nutter like AR?

Yeah the bears gave him away for a 6th round pick and people here are acting like he is HOf nothing else changed except the 6 starts under Tomlin. Moore got paid not bad for the worst o line men in the nfl

This is pure gold.
Do you understand supply/demand? There are literally thousands of FA signings that teams regret bc they paid due to demand and not actual performance.

Dan Moore was a mid to low tier tackle. But because there weren't many starting LT's in the league, he got his bag. Just because a player gets money doesn't mean he's better than what he's put on tape. And if you look at JF's Chicago days and put his resume with the Steelers side by side, you'll see he had zero improvement.

And yet the jets said they saw vast improvement and his best days are ahead of him. Your value is what you get on the open market. People are crying over 10 tds and 2 plus 200 yards passing games in 6 starts

The Jets also just gave Aaron Rodgers $100+ million dollars to be out of the playoffs by like week 8 so I'm not sure they're the best evaluators...

You have been on here dunking all over JF saying you don't want him. I mean there are at least 25 posts by you since end of season saying Steelers should stay far away bc he can't take a snap under center or throw the ball (which I fully agree with you). Yet out of the other side of your mouth you are saying he's vastly improved.

Which is it Mr. Flip Flopper?
