Purely on paper, I think you can argue that Wilson or Rodgers wouldn't make a difference at QB. My issue with Rodgers is that he insists on meddling in team management and won't just be a QB. If you could somehow promise me that Rodgers would purely just play QB and not stir shit up, I'd be totally fine with bringing him in. I just don't see how you can look at Rodgers history and conclude he won't cause problems.

We're going to find out a lot more about Tomlin if this goes through.

Imagine the dumpster fire! A control freak OC with shitty plans, a HC afraid to throw over the middle, and a QB who’s beyond primadonna giant ego who won’t be allowed to audible… what could possibly go wrong?

You forgot the part where Smith's entire Offense is based around throwing down the middle...

Sure he did but saying weird things doesn't make you a good broadcaster.

Point is its less PC culture and way more about nepotism and BFF's that ruin it. PC culture is low on the list. Like 2 people have been fired for things they said.

We'll just disagree on this topic.
Because you can't hurt anyone's feelings now.

I'm going to watch a bunch of hand selected Jaxson Dart clips so I can delude myself into thinking that Rodgers for a year and using a 1st rounder on Dart is actually not a criminally stupid idea.

I’m not sure he’d have that pull at this point. He was the franchise guy for the Packers and then the Jets were desperate and gave him anything he wanted.

He may try to get some pull, but at the end of the day he’s just a guy in Pittsburgh.

No we won't because people will just make excuses for him like always.

He gets the credit when it's good, but never at fault when it's bad.
That kind of thing is slipping away from him IMO. I watch a lot of NFL content and there's constant talk about how badly he needs to leave Pittsburgh - and assuming he'll be good again if so.

The National stuff usually drowns out the local complaints. That's going away fast

And if that's the case, I'll be significantly more okay with it. I have fewer issues with Rodgers' ability at this point than I do with his personality and meddling nature. If he can just shut up and play football for a year, I can at least tolerate it.

Like I've said a bunch, I think Rodgers is basically a lateral move from Wilson. Why I hate the idea of bringing in Rodgers is everything that comes around Rodgers.

You forgot the part where Tomlin is the HC and for the past 5 seasons, they've been in the bottom 1/3 of the league in terms of throwing MOF

Art Smith may want it, but he answers to 1 man and that man is a terrible HC.

Tomlin, Rodgers, Pickens and Metcalf…

Well the shut up part will almost certainly be a problem. But I think the whole you gotta bring in Randall Cobb and make Hackett the OC thing he pulled in NY won’t be an issue here.

Yea Rodgers wants to be the loudest voice in the room. He'll maybe just "another player" (unlike Jets/Packers), but if things don't go well he'll leave a nuclear wasteland. He's a child.

Yes that’s is what happens when you have backup qb. They have to decide to throw it over the mof

It's interesting watching the Seahawks do what many on here (including myself) want the Steelers to do: embrace the rebuild.

But you can't just imagi-neer that to happen. The reality is clear and the road we're on well-paved. We know where this story is going: an offense designed to get to 3rd and 2, struggles to get to 20 points a game, attrition-style football where the goal is to be able to squeak out wins from Boswell's leg against mediocre and poorly-run teams, and a defense that wears down over the course of the year and then is blown off the ball by a better coached and better prepared opponent on wildcard weekend, where it's obvious in the first two possessions we have no f'n chance whatsoever of even being competitive.

And I think the only potential saving grace here is that Rodgers has a ton of respect for Tomlin and it's only going to be a 1 year thing. This is pure cope, but I'm praying that Rodgers can be a good solider (or at least not a bad one) for just a year just due to respect for Tomlin.

Like I said, consider me skeptical.

He is no more annoying than RW as a passive aggressive player

Lmao what is this based on?

Dude goes on Pat McAfee's podcast every week to shit talk his players for dropping passes.

Steelers spending 1st round picks on the two weakest QB draft classes of this century would also be criminally stupid lol

I do think an alternative scenario is that this team trades up for Sanders and takes him to sit behind Rodgers, but that has the possibility of being an even bigger clusterf*** with Sander's dad.

Just a mess.

Well at least we will be able to get Allen Lazard to be WR3.

To be honest, I'd probably have him as WR3 over Austin. Lazard actually has good slot receiver size.
