If both Fields and Wilson leave, it will create a beautiful mess.

Losing five QBs in a calendar year would be some kind of NFL record. I can’t recall anything that bizarre ever happening.

I want the chaos and uncertainty. I want them scrambling like fools.

This will convince them more than ever to make a big move for a QB next season.

All aboard the Minshew express!

Word is he doesn’t like the assurances he was given for a clear path to starting - translation: he doesn’t trust Tomlin.
I don't want Minshew because he can win games with shit rosters

No team is going to guarantee him anything more than pole position. If they bring him back and the Steelers gave him 2/30 with 20 million guaranteed he would have as much pole position as Tomlin gave Tribskey.
He would be on his 3rd team in 4 years like RW so that makes them both journey men.
All 5 Qbs we’re back ups Winston Jones vet minimum kirk are all good fits in smith play action system

It’s very possible that he’s asking for something absurd in order to not at least test the market (although he very likely already knows what he’s going to be offered), in which case fine. But if they truly do want Fields back, then Khan just needs to accept that he’s not always going to “win” a deal.

Khan is doing more and more for me to doubt him. Striking out on Aiyuk because you refused to budge on an offer, missing out on a WR last season and now refusing to budge on Fields? Really getting frustrated with it.

If they go into this season with Wilson or Rodgers that’s going to be such an L. All of this also comports with the idea that Tomlin is calling the shots, though. No coincidence that the guy he benched isn’t getting an offer that would take him off the market.

Nah I don't buy this. I think this is more about Khan refusing to budge on what he's willing to pay. Same exact thing that caused him to whiff on Aiyuk.

Tomlin is the one who brought them in or drafted them, I don’t care what you consider them to be, I don’t recall something as absurd as losing 5 QBs in a year.

It shows us Tomlin has no clue how to:

- evaluate the QB position
- develop them
- make a QB friendly offense
- build trust with his QBs

I don't want Minshew because he can win games with shit rosters

Since his .500 rookie year, he has been mostly a train wreck that stacks losses, save his 7-6 season with the Colts.

He’d be perfect for what they need to do - lose!

Teams go through Qbs often the league is filled with retreads

I’m not saying they’re comparable players, but this same exact story played out last year with Baker Mayfield and the Bucs. On Saturday March 9 Mayfield was gonna test the market because they weren’t aligned on contract:

Then Sunday March 10 he signed his deal a day before the tampering period. So things don’t look great if you’d like Fields back, but this isn’t uncommon. If nothing happens before Monday, chances are he’s gone and Wilson will be back.

It’s certainly not over. But given that the head coach clearly isn’t that big a fan and the GM appears to be a “dig in at our number” guy, it seems unlikely he will return given the interest that is out there. Just going to be really gross if we run this back with Wilson. But that seems increasingly likely.

At this point, I think most of the rumors suggest:

-Darnold to Seattle
-Jones stays in Minnesota to mentor McCarthy
-Fields to NYJ
-Wilson stays in Pittsburgh
-Rodgers to NYG plus they draft Cam Ward

Interested in where this leaves Indy, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a Minshew reunion though. Minshew had a good year with the Colts before signing with the Raiders and Indy is looking for a QB to at least compete with Richardson for the QB1 spot.

I've also seen Rodgers to Minnesota suggested, which is hilarious to me but I think the Giants are a bit more likely. I think McCarthy and Jones in Minnesota and Ward and Rodgers with the NYG makes the most sense here.

Also another thing I'd speculate on, I think the chances the Steelers draft Milroe shot up with the Raiders decision. I was really thinking the Raiders were going to go with a short term veteran QB and draft Milroe to sit behind him for a year or two, but that's obviously not in play now with them committing to Geno. However, I can see the Steelers doing the same exact thing, especially since it seems most likely that Wilson will be their QB1 next year.

I don't really like it because I'm super skeptical Milroe puts his raw tools together to be a good QB, but I think it's far more likely that they draft Milroe in round 2 with Wilson as their QB1 than Fields as their QB1. The other interesting scenario is if Sanders somehow slides to where the Steelers can pick him up, I think that is far less likely but that scenario also wouldn't surprise me.

Khan seems like the anti-JR. JR never met a deal he didn't like and Khan stubbornly insists on winning every deal, contract, and situation.

Also another thing I'd speculate on, I think the chances the Steelers draft Milroe shot up with the Raiders decision.
Yeah it seems like they're going to look at one and maybe that's why they can't fully promise Fields that he won't face competition.

Again, when has a team had five QBs leave in one calendar year?

Maybe a team plays several QBs over a couple yrs - but for them all to leave in exodus like this..?

That’s unrivaled as far as I can remember. We’ll see how it shakes out because one of Wilson or Fields could still be back.

If not, it makes it clear as day the trust building, the system, the evaluating and the developing are all f***ed up.

I mean they are just throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks at Qb it’s what you do if you don’t have a Qb

If a coach is turning over QBs at an unprecedented level, he is making very poor decisions at every step.

There is no dancing around that reality. This isn’t normal for any team - even the Jets.

Aside from AR2, any other owner in the league is going to stop and say “6 QBs! What is the plan here? What the hell are we doing, exactly?”

I find it amusing that so many pimped Khan when he was hired. The search was a scam and Khan is a money guy who wasn't great at his job. He doesn't know personnel or roster construction, paired with Tomlin is the making of a disaster.

Pittsburgh sports are at an all time low.

I wondered if he gets the job if they couldn’t bring weidl in with him

even if the money was even.
If you’re fields and have a choice between the new jets regime, an OC who worked with Ben Johnson to lead the league in scoring,
Or do you run it back again with tomlin/ smith and this albatross of an offense.

Fields also played with Wilson in college.

It would be pretty telling if he’d rather go to the Jets (lol) over running it back with Tomlin though.

The Jets is the Jets any way you want to spin it - no matter what changes in the NFL, you can always count on the Jets to be ass.

So this would be pretty embarrassing for Tomlin and the Steelers org, not gonna lie.

One guy in smith who wants to build the entire offense around and Tomlin whose willing to give you pole position and has shown that both Mitch and RW the guy with pole position gets a long lease
Or go compete with a vet and a rookie

No it wouldn’t be embarrassing if he went to the jets. People act like he is some sort of special Qb. He is an elite runner but that’s it
