Steelers expected to allow longtime offensive starter to test free agency, per report

You just have to laugh at the Tomlin insanity.

Trade up for a LT… play him out of position for two years because you want to play the worst LT in the league instead… decide to cut Moore loose because he’s ass… wasted two years of BJ development and not know if he’s the answer at LT.

Yep, that’s Tomlin doing Tomlin things.

I hope it's a first. I was sort of eyeballing New Orleans. I was hoping to get a 2nd and 3rd for him. I'd be ecstatic for a 1st.

No way does New Orleans trade the 9th overall pick for GP. That is just crazy talk. :)

A more reasonable deal could be a straight trade of GP for Chris Olave. I don't mind it, but Olave's concussion issues kinda leave me guarded. But he is still on his rookie deal and they could pick up his 5th year option for 2026 which is only 15mil. Plus maybe it helps in getting Fields back under contract.

Another idea would be to trade GP + 52nd for NO 40th + NO 93rd. So they move up in the 2nd and gain an additional late 3rd.

We are losing Moore and Daniels and replacing them in house, so that should really help our comp pick equation.

I was talking about their 2nd...like my post said.

Idiots taking selfies got themselves caught.

This is the video of the police pulling them over.

The mental midget trying to talk his way out of their jam while wearing the hat he boosted from Joe Burrow’s house is funny as f***.

It’s even funnier when another team is going to pay 12 million a year for that LT.

Not so sure about Daniels. That injury could have them bringing him back. He probably won’t be ready for week 1
The saints are not good trade partners they need to dump Carr and finally start the tear down and stop kicking the can down the road. 2 years minimum til they are on the right side of the salary cap

As the article points out, this seems somewhat notable considering meetings to map out their offseason plans for both sides of the ball apparently took place this week.

Yes, especially if some of the sacks are on the Qb. We saw it with Williams leaving Cincinnati and signed with Arizona

Steelers did their internal film and decided he’s not worth bringing back.

He is who I said he was years ago - one of the worst starting LTs in the league and yet Tomlin never figured that out until just now.

That’s on Tomlin, as usual he makes dumb f*** decisions and continues to get away with it because… Steelers.

I'm disappointed but not surprised
Remember that Tomlin regretted not drafting him.

They better get another QB option because Fields may threaten the NHALS

He did improve he gave up 3 sacks before the bye. They got a good number of starts out of him as a 4th round pick. You can say he was terrible but he is going to a starter in the nfl getting paid 12 million a year
They drafted 2 OT in round 1 no need to bring him back

They won 8 games with Mason and Duck Field isn’t threatening the NHAls

It’s a subject that’s probably been beaten to death but while this may not be a great option, a great or even good option at QB doesn’t exist this offseason. It is what it is. If they go this route, I would actually be somewhat encouraged that they aren’t just gonna run it back with Wilson or chase a vet like Rodgers with the misguided notion that they could compete with just a couple more pieces and a vet QB.

That they may be going with just a dart throw this year is a good thing to me. In the unlikely event Fields puts it together, amazing. If he sucks and they have a poor season, that’s also good because it sets them up better to take a shot at a QB in the draft.

The only bad thing would be if Fields is fine and they commit to him. But their actions these past two years don’t necessarily scream complacency at the QB position.

The current defense isn't as good as when Mason and Duck were playing. Plus JF has a major ball handling issue. Those 2 didn't.
Absolutely and people are going to be mad when they spend more money and picks on that defense. JF did have a fumble every start this season as Steeler. He also has never finished an entire 17 game season healthy

I would feel this way (content) if they took this approach "purposely". Meaning they knew they weren't gonna have a QB for this coming season.

But like most things that Tomlin touches, there's little planning or foresight involved. They essentially backed themselves into this position and everyone is looking at each other wondering who is going to fix this mess.

If JF is your "bridge option" for a season, ok I guess. But if that plan is enacted, they are going to draft a QB high the next offseason and you know how well things went the last time they were in need of a guy. And this is a person they saw for 4 years in their own town. So forgive me if I'm not jazzed about Tomlin having any input on a QB. He's proven that he doesn't know anything about the offensive side of the ball

I think if Fields can calm his game down like he did in those wins last season, he could be lethal. He was playing reallllly sound, calm ball.

As I've said, Fields has been given everything he needs to be successful. They just have to bring in some help both behind him and on the outside of him. I'm cautiously optimistic, especially if they can get a RB.

I don’t have to say he’s terrible like it’s not a fact - the stats and eye test all have shown he’s one of the worst at his position in the NFL.

GMs do stupid shit in FA - again welcome to the NFL.

What Tomlin did was waste draft capital on BJ, get nothing out of him for two years, and ultimately end up with the worst starting T duo in the league.

That’s an undeniable fact and it’s not even close with the Titans Tackles being a big distant second.

As a coach that means you f***ed up hard to have two Ts that bad.

How is it wasting draft capital when Jones got 2 years NFL experience for him. The giants titans would kill to have Jones and Moore. Jones issues are mental not physical. Jones needed live reps being the guy with the least amount of starts in college. Multiple OT where drafted ahead of Jones played RT in the nfl that were LT in college

Ya teams are salivating for two Ts that gave up the most combined sacks in the league by a huge margin.

Cool.

Tomlin wasted two assets to ultimately have one of the worst RTs in the league.

And you think this is… good?

I’ve told you multiple times playing opposite sides are vastly different.

BJ now has to unlearn all he did at RT and do the opposite, which will be a massive learning curve.

Tomlin wasted two years of his development and the opportunity cost ended up being…

The worst tackle duo in the league and they are cutting Moore loose.

Tomlin made a massive shit sandwich and you are trying to tell me it tastes pretty good?

Cool.
