The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

They have a Qb in Mason. They are going to draft a guy in round 4. They are focusing on the Qb in 26. No one is waiting on him. They don’t believe Rodgers will start all 17 games next season anyway
Mason is a decent back up. Fact remains that Khan and Tomlin will likely sign Flacco, Rodgers or Wilson to he the starting qb.

Do you really think they ended the season believing let’s just deal with the QB situation in 2026, or do you think they are focusing on 2026 after effing up the past couple of off seasons, not addressing the most important position in football?
I truly believe they viewed all the available options as bridge qbs and would just sign the cheapest option. They looked at the crappy options in the draft and said we know the draft is in Pittsburgh so lets go for our Qb in a deeper class even if we have to trade up like Buffalo and KC

They have already decided against RW. Flacco is talking to the Giants about being the bridge QBs to their rookie. There is a real possibility both Rodgers and RW don’t have jobs

Who cares?

They f***ed up in ‘19 when a very well aged Roth went down with an elbow injury, made a silly trade, didn’t care about anything but year to year, and now things are a mess.

It’s the Tomlin regime in a nutshell.

No plan, no future, no clue.

Khan isn’t Roseman who has full autonomy.

Blaming him for the disaster this org has become is like being mad at a fireman who can only put out a blazing inferno with his piss.

The draft being held here should have 0 influence on what this team does this off season or next.

Oh god, this is turning into the same insanity spewed on the Pens board, blindly defending everything Dubas does because of Sully.

Khan has made this fanbase lower any expectations they previously had. Tubby couldnt get the WR last year and now he got burned AGAIN this off season. All reports were the team wanted to re-sign Fields, but they couldn’t even do that.

This coach and GM are so so stupid
Two things.
1- they made an offer for Fields according to several reports. Even before UFA began.
2- only 1 team was moronic enough to give Fields $30 million guaranteed over 2 years.
Thinking/making moves of that ilk might partly explain their 6-6 playoffs record in the 2000s and no Super Bowl since 1968.

The draft being held here should have 0 influence on what this team does this off season or next.

Yes it does. They are purposely playing the comp game and only signing players who were cut. They offered JF a bridge deal 2/30 with 20 million guaranteed knowing they would need a qb in 26. They are collecting picks to trade up in 26

I don’t think this offseason has been all that great at all, but I’m all ears for what the magical QB solution is this offseason.

You think bringing in any other GM will matter when Tomlin is here?

Tomlin has final say over whomever is brought in via the draft or FA. He’s the one who develops the players. He’s the one who installs the offense and defense.

Like any GM alive is fixing this mess when the problem is still the most powerful guy in the org next to AR2.

You are like Grandpa Simpson yelling at a cloud and ignoring the guy with the gasoline can and matches who is burning down the house…

No one knows what the plan is for the QB is in 2025, including Mikey and Khan.
If they're smart they'll focus on this season being transitional and find their franchise QB in the '26 draft. They're building up draft capital with Free agents leaving and gaining compensatory picks. IF this holds it's a good strategy IMO.

Then why trade picks for Metcalf?

Because he was:
1) Available
2) reasonably priced
3) not over the hill
4) filling a position of dire need
So, we punt on this upcoming season to hopefully draft a QB in a year? Again, why waste assets for a WR that will be in his 30s by the time the drafted QB is somewhat acclimated in the league? That assumes the Steelers draft the right player AND actually develop him.

They had no intention on punting this season. They simply f***ed up signing Fields and are now left waiting on Aaron f***ing Rodgers. They had no plan B, as usual. Just like last off season with Aiyuk.

But but but it’s okay! The draft is here next spring!

Because they couldn’t get Aiyuk last season didn’t like the free agent wr options so they got there guy. Chased wr 2 for a year.
They can use 25 to let the o line get another year of experience and they can allow GP another year to grow up with the possibility of a tag n extension. They are doing things to make life easier for the next rookie qb
