The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Ya man, having a desperate need at a position is always a great drafting strategy.

Worked out great with Harris, Bush and KP!

And of course the draft always goes exactly how you need it, especially when you are down a premium pick and lose not only that pick, but maneuverability - cool.

The D just let up a franchise rushing record agt Baltimore in the playoffs, their only legit D-line is 35, the depth is atrocious, but they didn’t have a need to address the DL in FA.

Tomlin’s Steelers keep dropping turds everywhere and you keep telling me shit sandwiches are delicious.
They are retooling the dl room like they did with the o line. It’s not an overnight fix. They are not winning anything next season. It took Philly multiple years to build the trenches

I’m aware what they need to do, but suggesting they draft for need over BPA, is a time proven losing strategy.

It’s ok to admit they have completely mangled the last five years, with this off-season being absolutely caught with their dicks in their hands.

Or maybe the organization learned from the KP situation and wanted to have the line and play makers in place for the rookie
No need to draft to extend a window like Colbert did with ben. Now you would have to wait and give Tomlin and khan create

They learned from the KP situation by putting themselves in position to draft for need again in April?

That doesn’t make any sense.

And once again, nothing goes down in this org without Tomlin’s approval.

If he wanted a QB succession plan after Roth’s injury in 2019, the org would have went that way.

Tomlin being given absolute power by AR2 has turned the org into a laughingstock that’s now dumpster diving for QBs.

Trying to convince yourself this is all some part of their double secret grandmaster plan to become a legit contender is delusional as hell.

They have shit the bed for the last 5-6 years and what we are seeing now is the org caught with their pants down, scrambling to find a QB and being held hostage by some washed up fruitloop.

They aren’t drafting for need. The deepest position in this draft is DL TE and RB. Just like they drafted 4 o linemen in 2 years and all 4 will be starting next season they need to take a couple drafts fixing the dl. You know the Philly model
They aren’t being held hostage by anyone there’s a good chance neither RW or Rodgers are not starting anywhere week 1. Rodgers is trying to create a market and there isn’t any just like RW is going to Cleveland and the Giants.
It doesn’t matter who is the qb in 25. 25 is about the wr and o line growth. It’s about seeing if Trice can stay healthy and grow into cb2. Can JPJ learn from Sly.
Fans are crying about JF when Mason literally matched him in Tennessee in yards and 1 less total td.

Re a bunch of stuff on the last few pages -

- I count Rudolph as an attempt to replace Ben. A long shot at doing so, but any Day 2 QB should come with a potential starter label, nevermind one they talk up a bunch.

- Given the gestational period of the average DL prospect, even in the 1st round, I wanted them to at least keep Ogunjobi or replace him like for like *and* draft high because the DL is a mess. So, yes, I did think they might sign a high end DL and draft high. Given how their entire defensive strategy is "our DL + OLB > your OL", I think it would have been a good idea.

- Also, while acknowledging the draft is strong, locking themselves in having to draft a certain position rather than being free to take a high quality surprise/steer away if things go pear shaped is indeed not good.

- Given how the org effectively leaked that they wanted Fields and then didn't get him because of an outbid they could have matched, I think it's reasonable for fans to be angsty over the situation, particularly when plan B looks as labored as the after-effects of an opiate and Taco Bell binge.

- Which, as a knock on, could be messy for them next year. A substantial amount of sports is belief. The Steelers have very little from their fanbase and their PR moves are actively confusing people. Admittedly, I want the mess that'd come with booing, but the team wouldn't and the fact they don't seem to realise how close that is doesn't fill me with faith for their understanding of other matters.

Rodgers just saw what Darnold could do with the Vikes. Why would he want to come here with this dysfunctional group?

If the Steelers don't get Rodgers it's not the end of the world. Plan for '26.
Khan has made this fanbase lower any expectations they previously had. Tubby couldnt get the WR last year and now he got burned AGAIN this off season. All reports were the team wanted to re-sign Fields, but they couldn’t even do that.

This coach and GM are so so stupid

They made Justin an offer the jets paid more. Mason had 9 tds in 6 starts in Tennessee and a better fit with DK and GP

If it's true they're waiting on Rodgers it makes them look feeble. I'm not sure about stupid, but it does appear as though they are beta and quite naive. I think they operate under the premise that because this is a storied franchise most wanna come here. When you have a Neanderthalic approach to the offensive scheme that doesn't jive with the modern QB nor a UFA who wants to put up big numbers. Well, maybe a RB.

I don’t think they are waiting on Rodgers. They presented him with a contract but he still has to decide if he wants to play at 41. They were able to sign players they wanted and are hosting draft prospects and Tomlin is out scouting. He went to Clemson to meet with Kubiak a potential Qb in 26.

They dont have a starting QB because the dumbasses running this team are waiting on a 41 year old whack job.

And lol at Tomlin “scouting.”

I am shocked Juszczyk decided to go back to SF for less money than what the Steelers offered.

Who wouldnt want to come here to play in the 1992 offense?

They have a Qb in Mason. They are going to draft a guy in round 4. They are focusing on the Qb in 26. No one is waiting on him. They don’t believe Rodgers will start all 17 games next season anyway

Do you really think they ended the season believing let’s just deal with the QB situation in 2026, or do you think they are focusing on 2026 after effing up the past couple of off seasons, not addressing the most important position in football?
