OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

I felt like all the people who had a microphone were turning this into "Well Tom Brady, you know something about Super Bowls". From the rule analyst guy, to the sideline reporters to Brady's co commentator.

Plus Brady sucks as an analyst. He mentioned nothing novel or compelling. It was a big circle jerk of Tom followed by a big wet fart

I don’t think the Steelers can replicate it…they invested in the O line but not well, either talent and development isn’t there…they haven’t been able to develop a strong D line with 2nd-4th round picks …the whole front office and coaching stinks and nowhere near as good as the Eagles

Hurts won MVP for a reason…he was very strong, even running…I wouldnt discount him but yeah, the best part of their Eagles is their D and defensive coaching, something that has passed Tomlin by lol

This... I can't believe people think we can replicate the Eagles/Chiefs or anyone else.

We do not have a elite up and coming set of coordinators / young coaches. Literally, we are keeping the f***ing awful offensive line coach who has not done shit for years...

We can not develop players. (it not all just about drafting talented players who succeed on Day 1) I think someone online posted just how bad our 2-7th rounders have been over the last few years)

Who is responsible for developing the talent?

There are generational players who supersede anything else: toxic environments, bad coaching, etc. But 99% of the players brought in FA and the draft need to be cultivated.

Mike Tomlin hasn't developed 1 player in his tenure that wasn't a generational talent. All the guys from that 2008 were developed by Cowher and his crew.

Hurts won MVP because you can't give it to a DL collectively. But make no mistake that front 4 was the reason for the rout.

So, I for the most part hated the half time show. There were moments. But, most of the time I sat there with a look on my face that said, 'really'? Color me very underwhelmed.

And I like the genre of music, depending on who the artist is. Have for years.

Does that simply make me old?

Maybe. But I thought it was bobbins too. I thought it looked cool. I thought Samuel L Jackson as Uncle Sam was a fantastic idea.

But musically, as someone who's not a big hip-hop head but hit it occasionally, I thought it sucked.

Winning a rap beef by saying the other guy diddles kids is pretty low for a Messiah figure. And that was the centerpiece.

Issue is he's not saying that to just win a rap beef.

Drake isn't a good person, let's just leave it at that to be polite.

There isn't proof. Who is an accuser? These last 8-9 months anyone who would have accused this guy would have been celebrated. I think Drake has been attracted to 16 year old girls who look 22-23. And 22-23 year olds who look 22-23, and 30 year olds who look 22-23. As far as we know, he hasn't acted on the underage stuff. Barely any more creepy than Leo DiCaprio only dating 21-25 year olds and frankly less creepy than Bill Belichick dating a woman 1/3rd his age.

Drake has been washed musically for 6-7 years but stayed in top due to the algorithms. He poked the Messiah as a mistake and the cultural zeitgeist was that he diddled kids. All of the stuff I typed in the above paragraph was broadly known and accepted for years until he went up against a guy who won a Pulitzer because of .... Guilt

No wonder it sucked.

When did the Superbowl stop being about entertainment?

Is the Superbowl really the venue for all of that?

Most of us watch for the game. And half time is a huge show and spectacle of a show.

I don't want to be lectured about a rap grudge.

Eh. I didn't even know he'd dissed Drake because I'd stopped paying attention and guessing from your comments, sorry if wrong, neither did you until it was pointed out. I'm also guessing you've probably liked a few grudge songs at some point or another, because music is just littered with them.

The problem with it was that it was just kinda dull.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

You are completely correct.

I had zero clue of the grudge.

The performance was dull.

And all that I was saying is that might be why. The artist was chosen for the juicy story. Instead of focusing on the show.

Which has a place. Art should raise issues. Be controversial. Challenge you to think and question your worldview.

The Superbowl simply was the wrong venue for it. The Superbowl is one time a year that the entire country comes together for a huge party. We have 364 other days to focus on other things.

There simply was too little of the over the top party. That was, IMO, the big fail.

I get you. I think you might be looking too deep. Kendrick's a big big name. I cherish my ignorance of popular music by this point, but still know who he is. He's been a big big name for a long time.

And yeah, the NFL must have known that song was coming and okayed it. I doubt they'll mind being a talking point. But I doubt they went to him with that in mind. Just didn't care when he put it on the set list. Just a guess, but seems the most likely to me.

Honestly, I kinda hate the SB half-time show and fuss over the ads in general. It's so emblematic of the way the NFL wants to be more than the sport and are instead a bunch of hypocritical assholes. But in this case... eh, I didn't like it, but I think that's just what's in trend right now.

They should just stick with pop music for the halftime show. It appeals to a wider audience. I bet it’ll be one of the pseudo-country stars next year: Post Malone, Shaboozey, or Morgan Wallen
