I do kind of question how much freedom Wilson should have given some of what happened in Seattle and Denver, but at the end of the day whatever the Steelers ended up doing didn’t work so…not like it could have been much worse.

I also just wonder who this leak ended up coming from. Dulac is the guy the Steelers use but I can’t imagine why they would want something that makes them look bad out (unless it’s in case they bring Wilson back and this is their explanation as to why he won’t be as bad next year as he was down the stretch). Wilson’s camp makes the most sense, and if that’s the case there may be a bit of exaggeration on what happened.

Unless the team stupid enough to think it was a good offensive philosophy are stupid enough to think this is a good excuse.

edit: And, of course, if we're willing to believe Dulac can be more than a Steelers mouthpiece, then I'm willing to believe he did in fact get that one from several sources. I would also add that if we think its Wilson, why is he doing this through a Pittsburgh guy rather than a national person, particularly as the primary audience for it would logically be other teams who might give Wilson a shot?

edit edit: Fwiw, asked some Falcons fans about this, and none of them remembered this sort of thing coming up with Smith

I think we for sure have Artie back next season, right? He has no more interviews left.

Yes and Ray said Tomlin let him run the offense he is comfortable with and expects more rpo motion based he ran with Ridder in Atlanta

They were 100% running into stacked boxes less and were more heavily using play action when Russ first returned from injury. It is believable that something changed because the offense went from rolling to the same shit we have been seeing for years seemingly instantly.
What changed is that other teams figured out Wilson

Russ couldnt change plays at the line because Tomlin and Smith spent a grueling 15 minutes planning the offense play calls each week.

Off topic - but the Norovirus may be the sickest I have ever been in my life. Good gravy.
I recently had a situation like this, but it was pain related. I got an infection in the nail bed of my toe. Worst pain in my life even worse than impacted wisdom teeth.

Hope you're doing better.

Well, he has the ultimate RPO weapon. Fields and Artie looked good...so I'm hopeful
Yeah i do wonder if we will transition to more of a 2 te 2 wr shut gun rpo system. More motion and intermediate routes like Buffalo and KC. Philly and Bmore still use 3 TE off the rpo

I would like to see us run 2 TE sets. I also think that would make a guy like Ty Warren a really solid option for us because he can play everywhere.

Thanks. Never really experienced anything like it. Full on dropped me for 2 days. I always kind of chuckled when people said they went to the hospital for the flu. I get it now. I thought I was meeting my maker there for a bit.

I saw my Dad cry in pain once in my life...and it was from an infected toe.

Kaboly came out today saying that he thinks the Steelers stick with Wilson over Fields, mostly because he thinks Fields will have other options while Wilson won't.

I'm not sure I necessarily believe that, but if Wilson has no other options, it almost definitely means he'll be coming in dirt cheap. Neither Fields or Wilson are long term options and keeping Wilson this year pretty much guarantees they're going to draft a new QB really soon. So it's whatever in my eyes, they just better have enough money to bring in another top WR as well.

Everyone defending Tomlin wants to defend him on this season alone and not on the whole.

Sure, on its own, this season was at the high end of expectations. I have no problem saying that.

As a whole, there are persistent problems that mean we're out of patience.

I actually think RW has more options than JF. Nabbers said he hopes they bring in vet and have the rookie watch and learn. The Giants have to win to save the gm and hc job. It doesn’t appear Vegas is interested in RW. They signed Chip Kelly he will be interested in a mobile Qb maybe Daniel Jones. Brady loves him sanders but they could fall in love with a different Qb

I’d be surprised if either Wilson or Fields have that big of markets. Both were available for dirt cheap last offseason without much interest. And while I think Fields probably improved his stock slightly more than Wilson I doubt it’s enough to warrant some team giving him anything other than a bridge deal.

Pittsburgh is probably the best option for both of them anyways. Steelers are unless I’m missing someone the only QB needy team without a top ten pick so there’s the risk of signing for someone else only for that team to draft Ward or Sanders. So you’re at least guaranteed 2025 as the starter.

One potential big difference - and this is off the hip spitballing, not thought out - is that last season it turned out there were six QBs teams saw as starters in the draft (even if it didn't work out that way) and this season there mightn't even be two.

Teams are going to talk themselves into Dart but it’s probably best Dart and Sanders redshirt part of the season.
Teams will take Cousins as a vet minimum deal over paying RW or Fields. I still think Khan tells RW go out and see what deals are out there.

And that’s definitely true. I still just can’t see any team doing more than a cheapish bridge deal for either guy.

Also…

Source off season is my favorite time of the NFL calendar.

Ooh big fight, big fight.

I will repeat what I believe I said two pages before -

The most important thing about this story isn't that it's true, but that a lot of people hear it and go "sounds about right".
