I think Russ came in midseason and clearly performed a bit better than Fields overall, where they scored more points and led to a lot of Tomlin praise. But Fields wasn't bad at all, and i wonder how he'd have looked with more time in the offense and some development. Now they're facing the same record they had with Pickett, a guy who wants 30mm a year on his next contract, and they could potentially lose Field to another team in a QB-needy NFL. And it just doesn't strike me as long term thinking in this org. I wonder whether signing Russ was the right move in the first place given Fields was so very publicly available and Russ's career seemed like it was running on fumes.

Fields is a bust. Regardless of whatever happens with Wilson, Fields was never going to be the long-term answer. Yinzers just like to get giddy over a QB who runs because it reminds them of "Slash."

The solution for qb next year is to hire a head coach who runs a modern offense and evaluate from there.

Whoever is qb next year is going to be in serious trouble unless major strides are made improving the scheme, offensive line, and receivers.

Good luck getting Art to buy into that.
