OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Congrats to the Seattle Kraken, uhhhh SeaHawks!

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
In any event, the 2027 QB class could be something if everyone comes out - Manning, Mestemaker, Sorsby, Moore, Mensah, Maiava, Carr, Sayin...too bad we'll be in year 3 of Will Howard and year 2 of Drew Allar and the Steelers will be "well there aren't enough reps for 3 young QB's so we need to see what we have with these guys first..."
by then we should know what we have and move on accordingly.

It's all of the above. I just tire of the arguments "gambling is everywhere so we shouldn't really punish Sorsby. No, I'm sure he wasn't fixing games, but allowing a player who participates in a sport to bet on games in that sport at all creates such a slippery slope and creates such proof problems that you have to have a hard and fast rule with no exceptions. Also, the NFL partners with beer and alcohol companies - does that mean we can't punish players for drinking and driving or showing up to work drunk?
I definitely think there needs to be repercussions for his actions, so I have no problem with the NFL telling him to go f*** off for a year. Especially since he didn't even attempt to make a case for himself in the petition. Which side note, beyond questioning the betting in the first place and how good he is actually on the field, how he's handled this whole situation is a major red flag. Seems very immature and entitled.

We'll see how it plays out, but yeah, that was my contention with drafting a QB before like the 5th round. They could end up passing on a good QB prospect because they don't know about Allar yet or they take him and then they essentially wasted an early 3rd on someone who will see minimal playing time.

One caveat id make is that its lawyers hes paying that have handled this so poorly. They should have never sued for his eligibility in the first place and should of had thier supplemental draft case prepped and ready from the jump.

I agree with the overall sentiment though.

I’m still pretty high on Sellers so I hope he’s a possibility for the Steelers next year. Although I think if he improves even slightly, he’ll be a top ten kind of guy.

I am idly curious about what Sorsby's draft profile looks like next year for playing CFL or XFL or whatever the hell's he going to do.

I am also fair convinced that he's told on his own habits in a way that suggests he won't ever get the most out of his own talent or be the sort of buttoned down, no trouble guy you want from a depth QB. The NFL always bets on talent so I'm sure he gets drafted but I feel like the team that does it will do so knowing they've just set their draft pick on fire.

Yea you can pretty much cross off QB for the next 2-3 years for Pittsburgh.
ARod will retire and they'll bring in a vet to replace him.

So it'll be
QB1 Howard or Allar
QB2 Vet
QB3 Howard or Allar
