Elliot honestly may be one this franchises best free agent signings I can remember since James Farrior.
He's right up there, but technically, Harrison was a free agent signing, right?
I feel like Sutton is cooked. He's looked awful the past few games.

Give me more Beanie Bishop please.
He certainly hasn't impressed, but if we're talking about covering Andrews and Likely, Beanie would get run over.

They will probably call on Fitz and then have Kazee as the deep safety.

I don't know if he's got the game IQ for it yet, but if Elliot is out, then athlete wise, the next guy on the roster I want covering TEs is Payton Wilson. Not perfect as it feels like he doesn't always have the play strength you want but that aside, he has the height and speed (and it's not like he's a weakling either).

Oh and obviously Fitzpatrick too, but I feel like leaving Kazee as a single high safety with Jackson and Flowers out there is running risks. I was in favour of it against Hurts as he wasn't throwing for shit but here it feels like more of a risk that should be taken less often.

You could be right, but I don't like putting CBs on TEs and I don't buy into Sutton being this CB-S hybrid. He's a CB.
But he's a slot CB and really, I'd favor coverage skills over anything else, particularly with the Ravens' TE. If Flowers is the only one of their top WR going the TE are going to be featured in a way that will make Arthur Smith hard for weeks.

Or a run heavy offense is going to lean even harder on their running game.

This is why Elliot being out hurts so much. He can do both reasonably well and the only other guy they have like that is Fitz, but as @Peat said, Kazee as your lone deep safety is a risk, too. It's still one I think you take given the Ravens only have 1 legit, good, healthy WR, but it's a risk nonetheless.

Not really, they implied that missing all of camp put him way behind. Then as soon as he started working back into the rotation he got hurt again.

Ive never read a single thing insinuating lack of conditioning or effort.
There was no mention of conditioning issues in this article and while I hate Dulac, accurately predicting he would have less than 10 total catches in the season way back in October indicates there was some known underlying issue.

Plenty of rookie WRs have early season struggles but usually the good ones tend to break out after their bye week. It’s clear Wilson got Calvin Austin’d. That’s not to say he can’t be a good pro eventually, but I think as a group we have to lower our expectations of Wilson unless proven otherwise. This type of draft capital at the WR position has plenty of busts/underachievers historically.

Thats all fair but the underlying issue is that hes a rookie who missed a lot of development time and we dont even knoif hes any good to begin with. He might be good, and he might be ass but i just dont think conditioning has anything to do with it.

Assuming RW doesn't completely implode or get injured over the next month, I'm signing him the day after the season ends.
They need to win a playoff game. Or, RW has to play well enough where if they lose it's on the defense and he's putting up a very good performance.

From an individual merit standpoint, Wilson has earned an extension. Doesn't matter if the Steelers lose all their next games. Wilson has proven himself to be a an above average starter in this league still

Thank god the Ravens didn't draft him. They almost did.

I'd rather not go the 3rd year for a 36 year old, but I also don't understand NFL contracts or cap and how difficult it would be to get out of in a year or 2, if needed. $33M/year seems pretty fair, though.

I don't agree with that assessment. If we're gonna shell out that amount and term for a player in his late 30's he needs to win a playoff game, or, play well enough that we should win that game.

Betcha they did that now in hopes the Chiefs pick him up for the game against the Steelers on Christmas.
We have pick before KC on the waiver wire

He is numbers a down with out GP. Gp is worth. 5 points and 100 passing yards. He has made a ton of money already he needs us just as much as we need him

Given the way this season has gone Russ has earned 1 extra year than we’d ideally like to give him. I’d expect this contract would theoretically allow him to retire as a steeler, although I’m sure Russ would tell you he wants to play for another 4-5 years.

I’m skeptical about Russ in the long term but as long as GP is on the team I think it will be fine.

If he wants thats 3rd year i need 2 playoff wins
Kirk didn’t even see an entire season and he got 90 million guaranteed

Fair; I can’t disagree with that. There’s probably some sort of calc where more guaranteed money = 1 less year, but I’m not sure what it is.

Getting Diontae back for a playoff push would be incredible. If he is a jerk/washed just cut him. Such a no brainer move to put a claim in for him.

But we're not gonna pick him up so...

They aren't gonna do that, they got rid of him for a reason. I wouldn't mind it but they would.
And Sutton had legal issues with the lions and is playing
Not saying he gets a long term deal. Vet minimum for maybe 2 regular season games and whatever playoffs
