When I’m bored (apparently more often than I imagined), I scroll through past nhl drafts, as many here do.
People speak of re-dafts, but they usually reference the first, or first and second rounds. I’ve wondered about perfect drafts that would make any team - but for our purposes, of course, the Habs - a powerhouse down the road. And how different would everyone’s be? Getting Gustav Forsling in the 5th round or Jacob Slavin in the 4th would be nice. Imagine getting both.
Now the butterfly effect is something we can’t take into account. If the Habs take Patrice Bergeron (who went at 45) at 40 instead of Cory Urquhart
that would have, in reality, changed everything. But leave that to the side…. Actually, don’t.
What I find most interesting is wondering if the Habs should have taken, say, Ryan Getzlaf or Brent Burns (or, or, or…) instead of Andrei Kostitsyn at 10 and then switch Bergeron for Urquhart, or wonder if the butterfly effect would have then caused PB to go higher than 40th so better to take him at 10th.
I invite you to create your perfect Habs re-draft.
