Now you can breathe through your nose.He has to find that balance with the team. I like what they’re doing defensively 5 on 5 to be honest. I’m not clenching my asshole as much as last year. That being said they are pretty painful to watch offensively.
Reading through a bit of this thread was....... an experience.
It tells you everything you need to know about our team's history. The funniest trivia is still Maurice being the first coach to get a contract extension lmao
Well since this got bumped,
Paul Maurice, with his 104th win, just passed Pete DeBoer to become the second winningest head coach in Panthers history. I didn't even know who the winningest was, and apparently it was Jacques Martin with 110.
The answer to at least one trivia question is going to become much, much, much, much easier to answer in about ten to twelve games.
Thats very sad tho when you think about our franchise
A coach with 2 full seasons and change is gonna become are all time winning coach. Just tells you how BAD it had been
Now that's an all-time classic.Jet fan coming in peace.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Panthers and I was genuinely surprised when they hired Paul Maurice.
It’s still early in the season and things can turn around. Before you panic, here are the things to look for (from experience) that would be red flags that happened here in Winnipeg.
1) constant under-performing for the amount of talent on the team.
2) A very safe but ineffective penalty kill. No aggression at all.
3) A powerplay that doesn’t have any movement to it. Very predictable and easy to defend against.
4) Very little aggressive forechecking at 5 on 5 and very little D pinching. D and forwards don’t play as a 5 man unit.
5) No layers on the attack. Always three across the line.
6) Former high character players seemingly losing interest and putting in little effort.
7) playing the wrong style of hockey for the type of talent on the team.
If you’re seeing most or all of these, then it’s probably time to worry a bit that history is repeating.
Wow, where did you dig that up? I deserve to eat sh*t on this so much (this sounds so wrong).

I remember how mad I was at the guy in general in the beginning, though don't know why I was this mad after this NYR loss in paricular. But if I also remember right I was one of the earliest to change my mind about PoMo. There's a thin line between love and hate...
I agreed with moving on from Bruno because he was badly outcoached by Cooper in the playoffs. So badly and with zero adjustments by Bruno that it didn’t look like a small hiccup.I don't fault you. When PoMo first got here things weren't good. We just came off a spectacular regular season. Won a ton of games and then canned the coach. We were pissed. Same with Bob. Bob did suck the first two years here until they put a team (defense and a system) in front of him.
We called a spade a spade, It was what it was. I don't regret anything negative I said bout Bob or PoMo because that's how it was at that particular moment in time.
One thing I think about: our core forwards are the sons of players and coaches: Barky (dad played and coaches), Lundy (dad played and coaches), Reino (dad played) and Tkachuk (dad plays and armchair coaches). That makes buying into new systems easier.I agreed with moving on from Bruno because he was badly outcoached by Cooper in the playoffs. I wasn’t instantly behind Paul that’s for sure but what I didn’t understand at the time was that in order to win the Cup, the team must all be on the same page, no egos and no personal stats chase. That’s what Maurice was able to instill in the team and it sure helped to have Barkov as the ultimate team player captain. I now understand much better how hard that is to bring out on the team. It took Paul the whole season but now the Panthers are the envy of the league. Other team fans don’t get it though, they keep bringing out player names like if Bennett went to Vancouver they’d instantly become a contender. Well maybe but maybe not.
I joke about Toronto but maybe Berube really can get something similar to Maurice done there. Will Nylander and Matthews and Marner buy in? That’s the key question. If they do, it could propel them … past the first round again!
I’m definitely changing my username now
