Just saw on Twitter that Rangers contract with Arnott didn't go through as he failed his medical.
Philly's down 3-1 to TB in the first.
Only a matter of time before an offer sheet comes
Last year I didn't think St-Louis could compete for the cup. I perceived them to be a well-balanced team, a regular season overachiever that lacked the superstar power necessary to excel in the post-season.
Not anymore. Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk are really, really, good. Vladimir Tarasenko gives them that star power they were previously lacking on offense. They are now the complete package in my opinion, the latest example of a successful rebuild.
The problem is their goalies are wild cards. We all know what Halak is capable of in the playoffs, and few have an easier job than he does with that ridiculous puck possession, but he's either great or below average and never in between.
Too bad for Johnson. His first season was great and then he goes and mangles his ankle. Who knows how good that guy could've been.Last year I didn't think St-Louis could compete for the cup. The Chris Stewart + Shattenkirk for Erik Johnson trade may go down as one of the more lopsided trades of NHL history. Shattenkirk is beast.
Why?God damn it, Blues now leading. We REALLY need Minnesota to overtake Calgary and it's not looking like a lock.
Heatley ties it!
Why?
Ah, yes, of course. LolWhich part do I need to explain? We need MIN to overtake CGY since we have CGY's 2nd this year. The more teams ahead of CGY in the West, the better.
As for it not being a lock, Minnesota won 2 games to start at home, but could lose a 3rd straight tonight.

Was wondering that myself, lol.
They drafted high for a couple of seasons and have built mostly via the draft. Their best player is Alex Pietrangelo. I can't imagine them winning a cup without him playing a huge role. Ken Hitchcock has done a pretty amazing job over there as well though. If St-Louis wins the cup soon, will you point to them as an example of a successful rebuild?
We got their 2nd in the Cammy deal I believe.
Totally not used to thinking/worrying about conference standings 5 games into a season...

this post perplexes me...
are they not a good example of a successful rebuild?
