I know he's having a down year but the guy's still a top 3 player in the league, he literally carried the Mavs to the finals less than a year ago lol. I think he'll be fine. The way I see it, if you're going to trade your 25 yo generational/perenial MVP candidate type player, make sure it's for a king's ransom. Get the biggest haul you can. This return is... not it?
They could have gotten a way better package from another team, only getting one 1st back for Doncic is unacceptable. Apparently, Harrison didn't even shop him around -- he only contacted the Lakers because he wanted AD specifically. He's an elite defender but he's also 32 and injury prone, big gamble considering the price they paid imo but we'll see. He's one of my favorite players and I wish him well, just not convinced he moves the needle for Dallas. They better win a championship within the next few years or this could end up being one of the worst trades in NBA history.
The LeBron era was already almost over in LA and now that they've found his worthy successor for the next decade+, I wouldn't be surprised if they move him too (if he's willing to waive his NMC). He said they didn't consult him before the trade and him and AD were really close so I honestly have no idea what will happen next. They could move more players (like Reaves who's now expandable) and start rebuilding around Luka with a focus on next season and beyond or they could keep LeBron and trade for a decent big/defensive help and try to make some noise in the playoffs this year. Either way, I don't think Pelinka is done yet.
